Rugged drive appearance
Pros: 1.) Beautiful ruby red matched my wife's laptop. 2.) Appears to be rugged. 3.) Includes unique Y USB 3.0 cable (Y end is usb A type). 4.) When connected to KingWin usb3.0 card, measured over 100MB/s read with ATTO. 5.) Drive enclosure surface is more resistant to scratches.
Cons: 1.) Y cable is too short. When attached to Kingwin express card, the other type A usb connector on the other end of the Y was not long enough to reach the 2nd usb port for power. This is because all usb 3.0 express cards would stick out about 1.5 inch. I worked around this by using the +5v dc cable that came with the Kingwin usb 3.0 card, as well as using a usb extension cord.
Overall Review: The usb 3.0 cord that came with the Iomega 1TB drive is soft. However, because of the shortness of the Y cable (the Y part), using this drive on a pre-usb 3.0 laptop would be clunky; due to the need for an extension usb cable to stretch the reach of that short Y cable. On those machines that do have usb 3.0 on board, the port is supposed to supply enough power so the Y portion would not be needed. This drive will run on a single usb connector when running in usb 2.0 mode (Y part of cable not needed to be plugged in).
Better than using usb drive
Pros: Sits flush inside Lenovo T410. Fast enough for emails, photos, docs. Allows me to have affordable boot SSD plus room to store browser cache, and docs w/o having to use up space on SSD or having to use a usb drive that can get broken off.
Cons: None so far. Hope it can withstand the rigors of disk like usage.
Overall Review: SD drives are meant for storing photos, ie take photo, store it, read it, erase it when full. I'm using it as storage for local email folder, photos, and other docs. Because it sits flush within my laptop, I won't have to worry about breaking it off as I would for a usb drive. True, there are those really tiny usb drives that are just a stub when inserted, but I've read about them dying after copying large amounts of data from overheating. So, I'm going to try using a high capacity SD card instead of a stub sized usb drive. I'm doing this because it didn't make sense to use up GBs of expensive SSD real estate for a large cluster of small individual files.
Pros: Easy to use. Just put disk in, pop in tray. Created possibility of having a smaller, cheaper SSD drive and a regular drive in this tray.
Cons: None with the tray itself. The Lenovo T410's design though has a drawback in the sense that it is harder to eject this drive tray. Would need to flip laptop over, harder to do when docked. The older T60 design allowed the ultrabay to be ejected without needing to flip the laptop over. While it is still technically feasible to eject this Ultrabay tray on the T410 without flipping the laptop over, one would have to feel one's way to flip 2 latches on the bottom of the T410.
Overall Review: There is no gap between the laptop body and this ultrabay, as reported by previous reviewer. I simply don't have a gap on my unit.
Good RAM for Toshiba T235
Pros: Popped the stick in, T235 booted up. No fuss.
Cons: None so far, but I haven't done any stress test on it.
Overall Review: I'd always invest in RAM. It's so affordable. Plus if you check up how much money Apple or Lenovo want for their 8GB RAM upgrade, buying such affordably priced RAM from Newegg is a no brainer. I've purchased memory from Newegg on multiple occassions, and am a satisfied customer.
Pros: * Installed fairly quickly and painless, compared to XP. * Fast boot and shutdown. * Nice to have XP compatible modes in Home Premium plus the XP mode in the Pro version.
Cons: * The sheer amount of patches and updates after the initial install is quite a burden. And this one already has SP1.
Overall Review: A good buy!
Pros: Beautiful watch, keeps time accurately enough for me, easy to read.
Cons: Sometimes after adjusting the time, the crown has to be pushed in just a tad harder in order to get the second hand to go. If not worn for a couple of days, the watch would stop. Am unsure just how much winding is needed in order to get the watch to run w/o being worn for at least a couple of days.
Overall Review: Am satisfied in general, and would purchase again.
