5060TI or 9060XT?

Our service manager Doug discusses the debate between 5060TI and 9060XT!

Main points:

  • These cards come in 8GB or 16GB variants. Although the 8GB variant is less attractive, the 16GB ones have gone so far up in price, the price-to-performance and value proposition is practically non-existent on the 16GB ones now
  • For 8GB cards, avoid the 5060TI at all costs. Hardware Unboxed produced a video comparing 8GB 5060TI vs 8GB 9060XT, using 1440p with DLSS/FSR enabled (which is how many people will use these cards) and over a 6 game average, got 55FPS with the 5060TI and 84FPS with the 9060XT - making the 5060TI 35% slower. To top it off, the 5060TI 8GB cards in-stock as of the filming on Feb 4 were at least $409.99, while we could find 9060XT cards at $350.
  • For 16GB cards, the 5060TI is 5% faster but also costs $549 or more as of this writing. GPUs with more than 8GB VRAM have skyrocketed just in the last several weeks, and now you can’t get an RX 9070 or 5070 in that price range anymore. 9060XT 16GB is still under $450.
  • Given the 9060XT 8GB being $350 vs the 16GB model at $450, we’re not sure the price difference of $100 is worthwhile, at that point you may as well full send and get a 5060TI 16GB and get that DLSS4 goodness… RIP to your wallet.
