Budget PC for work

Hi. Can anyone help me build a pc for my work? I am a grad student and I don’t have to deal with much computational works. I use a lenovo yoga aura 9i laptop for my day to day task like autocad/rhino for 3d modelling. I don’t play games. My maximum budget is 1500$. But the less the better. Also, i would like a gaming case with rgb lights as a setup. Thank you for you help. Also, I have never set up a pc before, is it going to be difficult?

Hello and thank you for posting!

I personally do not think that building a computer is that difficult. I highly recommend watching videos on how to do it though.

I currently do not possess the time to suggest parts, but there are plenty of videos out there from 1000-1500 USD to help you if no one else responds.

Do you know what your purpose is going to be for this? is it just for daily use or is it for your CAD program? Do you know the minimum specs for your CAD program (include CPU, GPU/VRAM, certified GPU or notand RAM requirements) that would help a lot with the roadmap to building a new computer and budget feasibility. My first thoughts are you should probably go with an Intel processor (because of the high core counts). The constraint is going to be your $1500 cap, right now RAM prices are not your friend.:face_with_diagonal_mouth: I’ll wait to see your answer and see if together we can put something together for you. In the meantime here’s some videos for you to watch and see if you think you want to build your own or buy a prebuilt.

To be honest, you’d be better off getting a prebuilt. And here’s a good one:
Check this out on @Newegg:IPASON Xelra Gaming Desktop PC,AMD Ryzen5 9600X,Geforce RTX 5060 8G,16GB DDR5,1TB NVMe SSD,Wi-Fi,Windows 11 Home,Black Prebuilt Pc Computer https://www.newegg.com/ipason-g1-gaming-desktop-pcs-amd-radeon-rx-7650-gre-8g-amd-ryzen-5-9600x-16gb-ddr5-1tb-nvme-ssd-black/p/3D5-001U-001R7?item=9SIAZEBKHD3190

Although it has a 8gb gpu it’s on the am5 platform so you could eventually upgrade to maybe a Ryzen 9 9950X3D or at least a 7800x3d and you could probably also upgrade the gpu to a 9070xt (Although you might need to upgrade the psu to do that). But if you don’t want to get a prebuilt that here’s a pcpartpicer list:

It’s $1400 but it gets you a 360mm aio, a 9060xt 16gb, and a fair psu. If you want to save some money than you could go with a 240mm aio or an air cooler. And you also could go with a 7600x instead of the 9600x to save some more money. And I meant to post this post earlier.

I know this is a bit over your budget (the whole market is really high right now) but there’s a bundle going on right now which would make an excellent work PC. I prefer a 5070 GPU for you but it would put you way over budget. The bundle is the CPU/motherboard/RAM for $799, you can’t beat that for a core I7 Ultra build. It might even be worth your while just to buy that for now and see if you can find deals on the other parts. This system should last you quite a while unless your workflow specifically requires a certified workstation GPU (such as an RTX A1000 or A2000), which is typically only necessary in certain enterprise or officially supported environments.

let me know if this fit your specification. The bundle may not last long, so I wanted to get this in front of you while it’s available. I adjusted the prices to reflect the deal (Newegg)— total comes out to about $1656.80.

you won’t find a prebuilt this strong at this price and that’s the difference of building your own.
