If you have under $500 then get a laptop but if your budget is actually above $500 then get a PC

I would normally suggest a Lenovo laptop because how good and cheap they are.

Currently, you can get an entry level work laptop for around $350 or a mid range laptop for around $650. Did you have a budget or a list of features in mind?

I look for features that are thin or have powerful specs personally.
