I’ve never had nor used a PC any budget friendly suggestions?
I would only suggest when you and your parent go to buy, is that. watch out for some of these prebuilt companies using very old hardware that is on the verge of being out of date or is already way out of date. Example would be with a computer with a 1000 or 2000 series Nvidia GPu on board. You’ll see few of these kind of computers at Best Buy, Walmart and sometimes that includes a independent builder selling stuff on Amazon. though you can find good computers at these places you need to know what you’re buying, do your research. Lots of good videos on YouTube like Gamers Nexus and Jay’s two cents. If your parents don’t know much about computers try to find someone local who can help. there’s plenty of people and companies that will sell you junk for too much money. would hate to see your family get scammed.
I would also say that if your parent agrees to buy you a computer and they would like some honest advice from the community here. I’m sure many people would help them. There are many posters here for people that are trying to help save time and money. I don’t believe Newegg allows sales on their forum so no one’s gonna try to sell you anything just give you advice.
Moving to the PC Building category for better visibility!
What is your price range? What games do you want to play? What resolution do you want to play those games at?
If you have a costco membership they have good PCs, those are around 1000-3000 USD.
If you can educate yourself on how to build a PC I suggest doing that… if you have the time… it can save a lot and you can learn something new. Prebuilts are okay sometimes.
100% agree with @elaniselan. If you can watch some videos and educate your self and parents so they know it’s not hard building a pc will give you much better performance per dollar. This is the way to go. Don’t feel bad if u get a pre built they are some good ones out and about just research research and don’t get the excited trigger finger lol
I recommend steering clear of Best Buy and Walmart unless you’ve read a metric ton of reliable reviews. You will be thankful in the longrun. Try to aim for at least an RTX 3050 graphics card it’s a great baseline for 1080p gaming.
Make sure the pc runs on an NVMe ssd, no HDDs.
If you’re unsure about a system, ask ChatGPT for a second opinion before buying by sharing the specs with it. Or do some research and share some PCs and i know alot of the fine peeps that have commented below are more than eager to help like I am. Sometimes systems look great on the outside but are lacking where it really counts.
Micro Center and newegg are fantastic options if there’s one near you they often have better parts and prices than the bigger chains. Sam’s Club and Costco also occasionally have solid budget-friendly PCs that actually offer decent value, especially when bundled with good warranties.
Just be careful with prebuilt “gaming PCs” that are all about the flashy fans and RGB lights, some of them don’t even come with a dedicated graphics card. see the attached image lol hits all the marks but no gpu yet is listed as a “gaming pc” Always check the specs!
$ 1000 at most we don’t have to much money so I think that would work I know that would be hard but yea that is at most
I hear ya! Used to be able to build an entry level computer that would been upgradable for like $750. GPU manufacturers have just gone crazy and it’s driving the cost up. you can try websites like Jawa for used GPU’s and I think at least you have a little safety net there if something goes south. I recently sold the good 6800 XT which is still a decent GPU.
