Looking to create a gaming PC though AMD mainly for MMOs and single player games looking for a full tower to build from and have a budget around 2500-3000.
That budget puts you in a great position!
Here are some ideas for you that easily run the games you want. You might be able to find better deals but the specs correct. X3D chips are excellent for the games you play because of the large amount V-cache on the CPU. You could go with a 9800x3d but honestly its not worth the extra $100+. You could take that money and buy an extra 1TB SSD.
Been wondering as I’m looking through graphics cards. Is there a preferred brand for gaming, since there seem to be a lot of them with mixed reviews, or are they all the same thing made by different companies?
Different manufacturers have their own spin based on the reference cards. I found Sapphire, Asus, and Gigabyte to be the most reliable for GPU variants. Some are cool with AsRock, but I had issues with the Phantom Gaming cards. I’d make sure whatever you choose has dual bios if it’s in your budget.
with this generation especially AMD cards like the 9070 XT are already tuned close to their limits out of the box, so performance is very similar across different models. Factory overclocks and dual BIOS usually only about 5% difference, which isn’t noticeable. The higher-priced cards mainly offer larger coolers and aesthetics rather than meaningful performance gains, so it’s usually better to choose based on value and fit for your build. So go with one whete price right and fits your build. Don’t spend an extra $300 cause you think it’s gonna be faster it’s not. That goes for across the whole line. So a 9060xt perform as any other 9060xt from another company As well. I would stay away from spending a $1000+ on any 9070xt You won’t get any more performance and just be wasting money.
Does it matter which Ryzen model I get? Or should I stick with a lower number as not to overkill my pc, as I’m told a Ryzen 7 7800 is a good balance, or a Ryzen 7 9800x or a 9800x3d should be the max, as too much GPU could be too much for my build to handle, as I hear even a 5090 can barely keep up under long sessions and loads.
If you’re mainly gaming, the X3D chips are 100% the way to go over the non-X3D ones. The extra V-cache basically gives the CPU a much bigger pool of super fast memory right on the chip, so it doesn’t have to keep going out to your system RAM as much.
In games, especially shooters or anything CPU-heavy, that means better consistency — not just higher FPS, but smoother frame pacing and fewer dips. That’s why a 7800X3D will usually beat non-X3D chips even if they have more cores. The 7800X3D even pairs well with something like a 5090 — it’s that fast.
As for the 9800X3D, yeah it’s technically the best, but honestly I wouldn’t spend the extra money for it (in many games it’s less than 10% faster than the 7800X3d). We even have a pro builder on here test it with top-end GPUs and you start hitting GPU limits anyway, so you’re not really seeing much of a difference in real gameplay. The 7800X3D is still the sweet spot for price to performance and pairs perfectly with something like a 9070 XT(My personal setup). The builder I’m talking about recommends that chip a lot as long as pricing/availability stays where it is.
Like I said before, I’d take the extra $100 and put it toward a second 1TB SSD.
I think this is one my best lists!

@Everer Welcome to the Newegg Gamer Community! We have lots of options within your budget on our ArsenalPC Newegg store.
- For MMOs, you need a lot of CPU power but not necessarily a lot of cores. AMD’s Ryzen 7 9700X is a perfect match for your needs.
- MMOs and single-player games don’t need more than 32GB of RAM unless you intend to stream. Even then 32GB is still fine for now given your budget constraints.
- Single player games tend to be large, so if you can swing it, a 2TB NVMe SSD is a good setup. Stick to a Gen4 SSD; the Gen3 drives are a little slow, and Gen5 offers no tangible benefit for gaming.
- If you’re going to play games at 1440p, then a Radeon RX 9070 XT is a perfect match. NVIDIA gives less performance at this price point as the RTX 5070 has crept up close to the same price as a 9070XT, and is slower.
Here’s a full build we offer for $2759 with these components, it includes a 360mm AIO and comes individually built, fully stress-tested and loaded with the latest BIOS, Windows 11 activated, and all drivers set up for you. Takes all the hassle out of it. Also available in white if you prefer.
If you have questions I’m happy to answer them for you ![]()

Does the SSD and Hard drive combo still hold up these days or is it preferred to go mainly with SSD?
