Looking to shop and recommend parts for my friends. Are there any parts I should avoid?

I’ll never buy Intel 13/14th gen, ASRock Motherboards. Probably the Nvidia 5090 gpu’s. (Not that I could afford those)

any others?

are you not going for 13/14th gen intels because they fried themselves?
I havent kept up but i thought they fixed that issue.

I would start to think twice about AMD AM4 builds now. They are going to start winding down DDR4 memory production. Which will only drive the prices up even more now and in the future. Not even sure if anymore processors will be introduced for that platform either anymore. It’s gonna slowly go away from here on out.

We can confirm the issue has been completely resolved for over a year now. Out of the thousands of PCs we sold with 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs, the number of failures is in the low single digits. Furthermore, RTX 5090 GPUs have not been an issue since the newer 12V 2x6 cable was introduced (included with PCIe 5.1 power supplies).

Saying you’ll “never buy” due to issues that have since been resolved… not a good move. Over the years there have been many manufacturers with issues; you’d never build anything if you dug far enough into the past to look for issues from various vendors.

I am not sure the issues he had were related to the processor issues. I know some people who swore off this next 2 generations with intel, but I personally never saw any reason to stop, considering Intel made RMA request to them, and even tried covering some component damage cost.

I actually had heard about the new GPU power connectors either. I feel like those issue were happening literally 3 months ago… Time must have escaped me but Considering I wasnt looking to upgrade from my EVGA 3090 to the 5k series, I didn’t look more more into it other then " lets not use aftermarket parts to make up for the manufacture issues "
