Let’s get this out of the way first, becoming a “Pro Gamer” is not easy. No matter how you slice the cake, you have to be good at the game. Like 1% of top players good. That in and of itself is no easy feat. That includes thousands of hours of playing with coaching and review sessions. Personally, I can tell you that a good coach makes a huge difference in eSports. That’s why even kk0ma (Head coach from SKT 1) from League of Legends has a skin honoring his contribution.

Once you have the skills, you need to get scouted. This means getting noticed. There are many ways to get noticed from releasing content to participating in tournaments. Many games will hold Scrims for smaller tournaments. Teams will aim for a tournament and put out flyers/posts for recruitment. Many teams will have a manager, coach, players, and sometimes a fill. In the bigger tournaments, scouts will attend to recruit potential players for Academy rosters or “B” Teams.
