I bought my son a pre built pc. I got it for a good deal it works and runs the games he plays ok but I know it could be better. I know nothing about pc’s lol so Chat gpt says I should upgrade to. Nvdia GeForce 5060. Just wondering if it’s correct and is it as simple as unplugging the old one and plugging new one in or is there steps to upgrading? Thanks ( pics of our current specs)
From what I can see, the GTX 960 is definitely the biggest thing holding this PC back, so a graphics card upgrade makes sense. Before I’d recommend an RTX 5060 though, I’d like to see a picture of the inside of the case, the outside of the case, and especially the label on the power supply. If you can also get a picture of the power cable going to the graphics card, that would help too.
The reason I’m asking is because the graphics card isn’t the only thing that matters. I’d want to make sure the power supply has enough wattage, that it’s a decent quality unit, that it has the right connectors for a newer GPU, and that there’s enough room in the case for the card to fit.
If all of that checks out, replacing the graphics card is actually a pretty simple upgrade.
One other thing I’d consider before buying is whether the regular RTX 5060 is actually the best fit. Since it’s an 8 GB card, it might be worth looking at something like a 5060 Ti or an RX 9060 XT if the budget allows, especially if you plan on keeping the system for several years or want a little more headroom for newer games. The extra VRAM could make the card age better.

Well your motherboard and CPU only support PCIe 3.0 5060 is PCIe 5.0 so you would loose a bit of performance around 3.0% How about your Power supply? 600w Is Recommended for a 5060
If you want upgrade both Motherboard and PSU I have some options about $250 for AM4
Or for AM5 $488 that’s with AM5 7700 CPU you’ll need DDR5 ram for this setup

yeah that happens sometimes I think it’s the server sometimes I gotta take a picture of the picture and then it’ll go through that and Cropping them down to the minimum size that you need
