original BIOS version was F2, it is at version F21d now. It is always recommended to update the latest version. I like that Gigabyte continues to support the older boards like the A520i. They just released the latest version F21d (Sept 2024).

Does this support 2nd Generation AMD CPU?

if you're talking about the 3400g or 3200g it is not compatible

Does this support second generation chips?

I can't remember where I read it but it may run 2nd gen processor but will not have support for them. Was built to support gen 3 and future releases. Gigabyte has a detailed list of supported CPU and APU on their website.
