Is there a video card already installed in this?

All socket 2011 motherboards have no built in video, the processor or cpu do not have video built into them either this is only for the  socket 2011 intel cpu's. these boards require a add in video card. for built in video usually not on the motherboard in recent versions but is built into the cpu but the board has the port built into the board for the cpu video. example would be socket 1155 and the new socket 1150 for the intel platform.hope this helps.

Hey, my son purchased a PC with this card in the PC, it has a problem hooking up to the router. It seems the motherboard does not have a great antenna that reaches to far. Any suggestions on what wi fi adapter to use? This is a Belton router if it matters. It connects when I put the PC next to the router, no problem, but his room is at least 30 feet or so down tone hall. Any help would and will be appreciated, THANK YOU, Mark,,Enjoy

Hello, I purchased this motherboard for a custom built pc that's running linux. As far as I know, this board does not have a built-in wifi adapter. I would suggest installing a wifi adapter card. I've seen this work on the board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G1735279

will this motherboard work without a video card........or is it built into the board already????? thanks

This motherboard does not have on-board video. Look at the back panel connectors; there isn't a video connector. Before you buy a video card make sure that it is compatible with the BIOS out of the box. I have a GeForce GTX 780 which wouldn't work with the original BIOS - they may be shipping with a newer BIOS now. Anyway, I had to use a different video card to get the BIOS flashed before I could use mine.

Question 4

I installed two 8GB memory slicks and running win7 ultimate says I only have 8GB installed.  The BIOS says it can read both memory slicks.  Is this the design of this mobo?

All 16 GB should show up on a 64-bit system. Make sure you installed the RAM modules in DDR3_1 and DDR3_3 (the two light gray RAM slots closest to the motherboard 24-pin power connector. This is the optimal dual channel configuration for two memory modules. Also verify that the motherboard detects the two memory modules on the POST screen (first screen when you turn the computer on). You may also be able to check in the BIOs for the amount of RAM recognized. Hope this helps

Will an Ivy Bridge-E cpu work with this board?

Yes. The board has since been revised to 1.1 version. It ships with the rev 4 BIOS already installed. Have had no problems here.

Is this version 1.0 or version 1.1 ?

I ordered mine last year and I got v1.1.  You should definitely receive v1.1.  Buy with confidence. It's a great board.

Question 7

I know there are revision 1.0 and 1.1 model boards, (perhaps newer revisions that I don;t know about). Which revision boards are you selling? I don't want to buy the older one.

I ordered this motherboard for a client about 5 months ago and received the newest (at the time) rev 1.1

I can't speak on behalf of Newegg or Gigabyte,  but I can only assume that they would still be shipping the latest revision 5 months later.

Also, checking with Gigabyte, rev 1.1 is still the most current model. After using various ASUS WS/ROG motherboards and an MSI, I couldn't be happier with this board from Gigabyte! I have used both SNB-E (3930K) and IVB-E (4930K/4960X) CPU's without any issues. Overclocking was extremely easy, even with a mild closed loop water cooler, RAM Speed and Timings were immediately recognized with XMP using 4x 8GB DDR3-2800 G.Skill Trident X Modules, and 4x GTX Titans work flawlessly at PCIe 3.0

There are now 6 of these running 24/7 in a high-end 3D Rendering Cluster at 100% load!

Cons: Only one that was a bit annoying at first, but the boards must have shipped with a beta or corrupt BIOS. Despite the BIOS reporting that they were running the latest version, the onboard Intel NIC was transferring EXTREMELY slow (1MB/s over a Gbe network). After days of testing on several Identical boards I was about to give up until I reflashed the BIOS with what was apparently the same revision, the NIC's all started to work at full speed.

How would I connect a AC 97 (front panel audio) connector to this motherboard?

Hello,
 There is a connector on the left bottom side of the board you simply plug your audio cable from the enclosure usually marked ac97 or HD audio, check the connector on the audio cable so you know which it is  this board supports both. also may only fit a certain way don't force it if it does not push on check pin alignment with plug for proper orientation. if you have a manual it list connection method also if you do not have the manual you can download it from gigabyte site go to the product page find your model click on support an downloads then under driver tab click. scroll down to manuals and download it u need adobe reader to view it.

Can memory be overclocked to 2400mhz?

I have set it for that speed using xmp profile Kingston, there specs call out only dual channel I believe that was for the sandy bridge cpu in there mem list on website, it does run up to 2400mhz but I used 2133 instead for my sandy bridge so I know its in quad channel mode but it like to use 1333 speed native the  sandy bridge cpu , the newer ivy bridge may run it at 2400 speed in quad channel I have the UD3 board rev 1.1

If you don't over clock, what is the best ram speed to choose for the GA-x79-up4 board and using the intel I7 4960x cpu?

Good question, however it depends on use, I am a power user and I just bought GSkill 4 x 4gb = 16gb, speed is the 2133. With I the idea of getting another set down the road if I need it.

At this point in time I have no reason to get it, especially if you are getting at least a gtx 680 card or better and use SSD hard drive for the operating system.....
