Will this work on my emachines EL1358G-51w? Asides from where I will put it in my low profile tower, just wondering if it will work.

Whether your emachine uses at 3.5in bay or a 2.5in bay, this will fit. It is a 2.5in drive. Your machine uses a SATA interface and so does this drive. Not sure if your emachine has room for more than one hard drive or not. If it does not, you will need to install Windows on this hard drive. Not a bad idea to take your old hard drive, put it in a USB enclosure, and attach old drive externally, via USB, to get your documents onto your new hard drive.

I am replacing my HDD on a mid 2007 macbook. Is this HD compatible? I ordered a Sata III SSD and the disc utility does not recognize it. So, I am hoping that a Sata II drive will be backward compatible with my Sata I machine.

All sata versions should be backwards compatible, check in your bios to see if it detects the drive, there is a possibly that your sata III drive could have been DOA did you check to see if another computer could recognize it?
