Intel 660p SSD
Finally, PCIe and Intel QLC 3D NAND in one SSD.

The first QLC-based client PCIe SSD in the industry, the 660p SSD continuing Intel’s leadership in flash cell technology and quality manufacturing. The QLC technology enables higher storage density and lower cost per GB. The PCIe 3.0 x4 host interface delivers bus bandwidth up to 32Gbps that eliminates the bottleneck of SATA interface, taking you everyday computing experience to a new level. Meet today’s storage needs and prepare for the growing demands of tomorrow with the Intel SSD 660p Series.

Available in 512 GB, 1024 GB and 2048 GB to suit your needs.

PCIe Performance at an Affordable Price

Empowered by Intel’s innovative Intel QLC Technology, the Intel SSD 660p offers higher capacities at a lower cost than TLC-based options*. With PCIe, the new SSD 660p skips SATA and its limitations to offer up to 2TB in one drive.

* Intel SSD 660p 512GB vs Intel SSD 545s 512GB.

Twice the Capacity in Identical Footprints*

These client SSDs pack more data than TLC-based storage, allowing up to 2x more capacity in identical footprints. The thin M.2 80mm form factor makes it perfect for notebooks, desktops, and mobile devices that need storage for everyday computing.

* 2x more capacity in identical footprints based on specification comparisons between the Intel® SSD 660p Series (up to 2TB) and Intel SSD 600p Series (up to 1TB).

Performance and Price That Matters

The SSD 660p hits the marks that matter for client SSDs. This drive is tuned to deliver a capacity optimized NVMe performance and deliver an intelligent storage option for mainstream and entry-level computing.

Motherboard does not detect it.

Pros: -Cheap
-Fast when no more than 50% full

Cons: -Motherboard doesn't detect it, so it cannot be used as a boot drive
-useless as a boot drive
-low quality
-poor performance overall compared to other SSD in it's class

Other Thoughts: It's only good when used as an extra storage. Don't expect to use it as a boot drive. I threw all my games on it, and they do load much faster. It slows down to a crawl when full, but still at least as fast as a SATA drive, so if you consider the price it's still an ok deal as game/application STORAGE ONLY.

awesome ssd for the price

Pros: - in the right configuration these fly and overcome all but the most extreme situations

Cons: - in lower sizes (256GB and 512GB versions) these have a smaller static cache that can easily fill up and the speeds will decrease greatly

Other Thoughts: If you've watched reviews/videos on these SSD's you'll notice almost all reviewers use the 256GB versions. The reason why these SSD's are so cheap (comparatively) is they use QLC. which is great for density, bad for speed. They over come this by having a portion of static SLC (must faster) that then writes (dumps) to the QLC from time to time. The problem is if you are transferring large amounts of data all at once the fast SLC becomes full then everything is writing straight to the slow QLC.

So why is this a big deal? The 256 GB versions, that most video reviewers use, have a small SLC portion (I don't remember the exact size). The 1TB and 2TB versions of these drives have much larger static SLC portions and there for can write much larger amounts of data while still being very fast.

My setup was to buy 2 of the 1TB Intel 660P drives and put them in a raid 0 configuration. I did this for two reasons -
First - I've effectively doubled my static fast SLC so I can write much larger amounts of data without worry of filling up the SLC before it has time to dump the data to the slower QLC.
Second - the convenience of having a single drive (I have other sata SSD drives I use for backup).

My results: I was able to fully install windows very quickly without any noticeable slowdowns. Then to test how it handled large amounts of data at once I moved two large games (Anthem and Battlefield V) which is just over 90GBs of data. It was able to move all 90GB's without ever slowing down staying steady at over 900MBs transfer rate.

I couldn't be happier with these drives, just know what you are getting, what the shortcomings are and if you can either limit those shortcomings or live with them.

Bang for the buck is on point

Pros: For the price you won't get a better deal in my opinion.

Cons: It's not the fastest out there but it's faster than all SATA SSDs no questions asked.
Read: 1,390 MB/s
Sequential: 1186 MB/s
Random 4k: 80.2 MB/s
Deep queue 4k: 393 MB/s

Other Thoughts: Buy it you won't regret unless you have to have the fastest thing out there then go spend twice as much.

Great and fast

Pros: Enjoying double the speeds plus of a traditional SSD. It's just plain fast, new build no bottlenecks, 500 for startup and this second one TB for storage.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This thing is great, worth buying when it's on sale, but not worth buying if you want it within a few days. Took 8 days to reach me, something has happened with Newegg's previously impressive fast shipping, it's just not happening lately on several items I've bought from them.

If you have a PCI 3 slot for one of these on your board, it's really a no-brainer. I wouldn't waste money now on a Samsung traditional SSD, these things fly and have a great warranty.

Great product, great price! Highly recommended!

Pros: Easy to install.
Excellent price ($109.99).
Extremely fast

Cons: I can only install 1

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this product. I received it 2 days after ordering and had it installed, formatted and running in less than an hour. My boot disk is a Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB drive and with Rapid mode turned off (the only way to truly compare drives) this drive blows it out of the water. CrstalDiskMark results:
Samsung:
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 546.663 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 533.225 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 400.013 MB/s
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 362.302 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 303.145 MB/s
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 283.858 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 45.732 MB/s
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 113.062 MB/s

Intel 660p:
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1934.680 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1802.811 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 625.277 MB/s
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 950.413 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 587.776 MB/s
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 591.744 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 56.408 MB/s
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 210.508 MB/s

Add to that, it is 1 TB; twice as large as my Samsung drives. If the longevity of this drive is anything like all of my Samsung drives then it is a 100% win for me.

Great way to add relatively fast storage

Pros: Fast enough
Easy install

Cons: Wouldn't work in the PCI-E M.2 slot.

Other Thoughts: My Gigabyte Aorus MB has two M.2 ports, one for PCI-E only and one for either PCI-E or SATA. When I first installed it in the PCI-E socket, it did weird things to the system, including a CLEAR CMOS, and the system couldn't find the Windows Boot Manager. Moved it to the combo socket, and it formatted fine. Now using it to store tunes. I expect the problem was more with the BIOS than with the M.2 drive, so no points deducted.
