Thinking of building a Synology NAS using 4 10TB WD Gold drives. Pros/Cons? Thanks!

What is the best choice for a single data backup drive? Enterprise, Red, Purple or other?

Unless you (1) hit your back-up drive real hard all the time and (2) need high (10+ TB) capacity, the Gold Enterprise drives are overkill for back-up. If 6TB capacity or less is sufficient for your back-up, the WD Black is a good choice; if speed isn't a priority then WD Blue will handle your back-up job.
