How many hours will these drives have on them?

You can't know for certain; these drives are pulled from service (usually) from server farms. However, this specific model was introduced in early 2015, so they can't be older than that (slightly less than 3 years). This is quite normal service, where they run 24/7/365. I have previously bought about a dozen similar refurbished drives (not helium, but Ultrastar) through this same vendor (GoHardDrive). The lowest hours was about 18,000, and the highest hours was about 26,000 (divide that into 365 days for years). Compare that to 2,000,000 hours MTBF for the Ultrastar spec. My drives arrived with 35 to 45 stop/start cycles, which is also normal for a server environment. In other words, these drives are barely broken in & basically have been "vigorously tested."  Google search for BackBlaze and you'll see HGST Ultrastar drives set the standard for fewest failures, and almost all of their (very few) failures occur in the first few months of service.

Keep in mind, a server environment is different than a home or desktop, but if you're careful (use line conditioning, UPS, solid computing system, turn everything on and off gracefully, decent cooling, THESE ARE STORAGE SOLUTIONS: do NOT install operating system or applications on them!) and there is a very reasonable expectation of many years perfect service. GoHardDrive has never reset the SMART statistics on drives I've previously purchased (THANK YOU!!), and they've all been factory/new statistics, other than total hours & start/stop cycles. So, I'm here answering this question because I'm here to buy a couple of these He8 drives. None of my previous refurb/server pull drives have failed or even degenerated in quality (as far as SMART can tell), so these are a very good bet. Of course, any HDD purchase is a gamble, and non-server models from other vendors I would never risk my data on, but HGST Ultrastar and GoHardDrive is a combination I currently have 100% perfect luck with.

Question 2

Description and title read '3 year warranty' from reseller (server part deals?).  Warranty & Returns tab reads 'replacement within 60 days'.  I emailed the reseller to be sure and they instead claim the warranty is through the point of purchase (Newegg!?!)  So what the heck!  How long is the warranty on this refurbished hard drive and who would be taking care of it if needed?
