5 keys to a successful interview at Newegg

By November 15, 2012December 5th, 2017No Comments

Have you ever thought about working at Newegg? Newegg is currently hiring across various departments in the Southern California area so there may be a job that’s a perfect fit for you! Click here to check out our job opportunities.

However, landing an interview is just the first step! In order to make a great impression, here are the five keys to interviewing from our Talent Acquisition team.

1. Do your homework

Do your research on Newegg to show your interest!  Be sure to read carefully the job description before interviewing! Review our website and shop online to experience firsthand what it feels like to be our customer.

2. Show up on time

Be respectful of your interviewer’s time. If you are running late, please call in advance.  We are familiar with traffic, especially here in Southern California. Oh, and need we mention, Newegg is a fun environment, but please don’t wear beach shorts and flip flops to your interview!  We are still professionals.

3. Demonstrate your listening skills

You only get a limited amount of time in any interview, so provide details pertinent to the job succinctly. Be prepared to answer the question, “Tell me about yourself.”
The halfway point of your interview is generally a good place to ask questions about the position. Interviews are as much for you to learn about the company, as they are for us to learn about you! Don’t be shy – ask away.

4. Communicate effectively

The ability to effectively communicate is a top skill we are looking for. Tell us about your soft skills by highlighting work experiences or other activities.  Do you play a sport?  Volunteer for your community?
Also, we have a great compensation package, but let us tell you more about it in the second interview.  During our first interview, avoid jumping straight to the dessert without discussing the appetizer and main course!

5. Ask for the job

There is a rule in sales: “If you don’t ask for the sale, you don’t get it!”  This is a universal truth in sales, life and interviewing.  End your interview by expressing your interest in the job AND recap why you are the ideal candidate for the job.  When you get home, demonstrate your enthusiasm and written communication skills by sending an email or thank you letter to your interviewer.  It shows you’re a seasoned professional, expert communicator and your desire to join the Newegg team!
Good luck and good interviewing!  We look forward to meeting you soon!
