Kt is Newegg’s senior brand marketing manager and responsible for a lot of behind-the-scenes action. Whether she’s planning the next great promotional campaign, organizing an exciting giveaway, or coming up with funny ideas like EggCoin; she’s always prepared.
And a lot of that preparation is stuffed inside a giant leopard-print bag.
Her next task won’t be an easy one as she chaperones the Great China TECHspedition winners all over the People’s Republic. But knowing how she is and how much she prepares, I decided to ask her what she’s taking inside that great big bag of hers.
Here’s what’s in Kt’s bag and her reasons for taking these items to Asia:
Why are you taking a tablet?
I’m not taking my laptop to China because I don’t want to lug it around all day. A tablet allows me to work, play games, and watch movies without taking up a ton of space inside my bag. I chose this one because it has a huge screen and is really fast.

Why are you taking a phone?
No one leaves the house – let alone the continent – without their phone. And since I’m not taking a camera, this will let me take photos and videos of the entire experience. Keep an eye on Newegg’s social media profiles for updates!

Why are you making us all download WeChat?
I’ll be several time zones away from my team at Newegg, my friends, and my family. WeChat will be my go-to app for chatting with them. It’s super easy to use and since it was developed in China, I won’t have to worry about access.

Why are you taking headphones?
This headset may have been designed with gaming in mind, but it’s also super light and comfortable which makes it perfect for long flights. The sound is incredible as well. Just don’t tell the GameCrate guys I borrowed them!

Why are you taking a power bank?
I never travel without at least one of these. This one is reliable and powerful but still easy to throw in a bag. No more searching for outlets in airports and cafes for me!

Why are you taking a book?
I like to unplug every once in a while and the best way to do that is with a good book. I chose this one because it’s one of my husband’s favorites and the title intrigues me. It’s also not too long or too short and I think I can finish it on the long flight.

Why are you taking a sleep mask?
I’m going to be really busy in China and I want to make sure I get plenty of sleep. I’ve never used a sleep mask but I figured it’d be a good idea to bring one just in case I need to tune out the distractions. Luckily, Newegg sells a lot of different styles and this one reminded me of my own sunglasses.

I’ve never been to China before and I must admit I’m a little nervous. I wanted to take something from work with me to keep me for good luck. I chose this little guy because he has become a part of our team and I want to take him on some adventures – Flat Stanley style!
