Since this has integrated graphics, a separate graphics card is not necessary, correct?

Yes, you can skip a video card assuming your motherboard has the outputs you need.  Dual link dvi does not work on my motherboard.  I am not sure if that is a limit of the processor or the board, but i think it's the processor.

Is this a 32bit or 64bit ?

Low power won't be fast process..?

Actually this product has 35w processor. if we compare with other 55w-65w processor that won't get slow of process..?

I am using this CPU with stock fan but with arctic silver 5 thermal paste in an HTPC setup with a ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer LGA 1150 Intel Z87 motherboard, 8gb (2x4GB) G.Skills 1866MHz CAS9 ram, Blu-ray drive, Corsair CX430M power supply, corsair 256gb SSD, and attached to a Samsung 55" 6350 series 1080p TV.  Attached to the system I also have a Mediasonic 8-bay (8x2TB Seagate 7200 rpm drives) hardware raid 5 tower via usb 3.0.  The system without the external raid box and TV when tested with my kill-o-watt meter draws 34w's at desktop, 38w web surfing, 40w during ripped Blu-ray iso playback, 42w during Blu-ray playback, and 48w playing Kerbal Space Program @ 1080p for the entire system.

To compare this, I have an AMD PhenomII 650 cpu, asus crosshair iii mobo, EVGA NVidia 285 GTX OC video, 16GB G.Skills 1866MHz (clocked at 1600MHz CAS 8 as that is the boards limit), 128GB corsair ssd boot drive, 2x WD 150GB raptor drives in raid 0 for games, with a H60i cpu water loop, 750w OCZ power supply, and an asus 24" 1080p IPS monitor as my main computer prior to the i3 build.

The i3 cpu is actually noticeably faster than the AMD cpu for anything that was IPC limited (but not ridiculously so) and about equal for tasks that are not.  As such I think they are fairly equal in CPU for most tasks.  The biggest difference is the i3 system's max power usage I have seen is 48w while my AMD system idles at 240w and tops out at 385w for basically the same performance (not counting games). The i3 is also near silent even at the max power draw I have seen while the AMD even with the liquid cooling still has 5 other fans and sounds like a leaf blower when I am gaming and like a box fan on low at the desktop.

Do you need to apply thermal paste between the CPU and heat sink that comes with it?

Many people believe that thermal paste is a requirement for all installations.  Mine is running fine without it so far.  Thermal paste was not included with the cpu.

Question 5

Does this have VT-D support? Want to run Hyper-V &/or Virtual Box on this, Host OS will be a HTPC w/ Blu-Ray player.
The Guest OS's would be for educational lab use, learning Hyper-V,  learning CentOS etc. (Non-Windows OS's like CentOS would run under Virtual Box.)

It does NOT have VT-d although it does support some VT-x features.

I don't think any i3 processor has VT-d support but I also don't know if it would have sufficient horsepower for the host to share much with a guest anyway.  Throw a few more dollars at getting an i5 that will suit you instead.

That would work just fine. I'm assuming you're building a home NAS or workstation? Do you need the Q87 chipset for vPro? Otherwise you could save some money and get a B85 or even an H81 mini itx board that'd fit in a tiny case since the TDP is so low. That's what I'd do anyways.

Any idea what kinds of programs you could run and what kind of performance I could expect with this?

I bought this processor to upgrade an older dual-core Pentium, and my current laptop uses a second gen. core i7 - after a week or so of use this new  core i3-4130T feels alot more like the core i7 than the other Pentium - I love it.  The performance is fairly high - but keep in mind, I am not running any games on it.  This is the heart of my NAS/Plex server - so it's doing a lot of video transcoding and it's doing it well.  I also wanted a low power PCU and this fits the bill - looks like it's been idling at around 6 watts!  If you aren't as concerned w/power savings, the 'non-T' version gives a bit more bang for your buck.

Hi.  I've never built a computer before.  My objectives are low power and low cost.  Can someone tell me a) if these are compatible and b) if I'm missing anything (fans, power supply, internal cables, etc.)?  Feel free to suggest alternatives if you think I'm doing something stupid.

Hello Matt......  the items selected will play nice together (they are compatible).  just a suggestion.....  save ~$30 or so and purchase the SAMSUNG 840 EVO 2.5" 120GB SSD (i own this drive in the 120GB & 250GB versions, they work well).  use the savings to purchase 8GB RAM, stick with 1600 PC3 12800 CL9, but you may want to consider 1.35V RAM.  eventually you may need a 2.5" hard drive either 500GB or 1TB but that can wait.  don't forget you may need an external USB CD/DVD to install your operating system either Windows 7 or 8 depending on your preference and an HDMI cable to connect to flat sceen TV or DVI cable to your monitor.  Don't forget input such as keyboard & mouse.

Is it possible for this cpu to run fine with no fan? heat sink only?

You could do it if you get an aftermarket heatsink.  I think stock heatsink is too small to cut it.   Just remember you'll probably still need a case fan.  That said I think my entire system pulled about 25w at full load, which suggests the CPU was pulling 15w-20w.  shouldn't be too hard to air cool.

Question 10

My system seems to steady out at 50W (via Kill-A-Watt).  What are people do to get 25W?  I'm using a full ATX tower so I went with   Would a lower wattage PSU be better?  I was looking for a lower wattage but wanted to make sure it would have the proper holes (or an adapter plate).

Maybe I haven't let it sit long enough to really "idle", since I was setting up the OS.  I'm using Lubuntu 13.10, in case you think that would affect the power consumption.

Hi Derek, to achieve a lower watt consumption, I would recommend using a single solid state drive rather than X2 hard disk drives and a passive processor cooler.  In general the watts usage increases with: fans, video cards, addon cards, usb powered devices
