Does the heatsink have adhesive stuff on the bottom for it to stick onto the CPU? Or do I have to get my own thermal adhesive?

It has thermal paste not thermal adhesive. Do not use thermal adhesive as you'll never get the heatsink off again.

Yes sir, it certainly does. The fan, however, is a stock fan. It's somewhat cheep and ineffective, but it will certainly work. If you intend to put the processor under a lot of stress program-wise, I'd definitely suggest an aftermarket fan. They are fairly cheap and will be quieter and keep the processor cooler.

I cant find a good cpu cooler that will fit this.  Any suggestions?  Or is the stock fan good enough?

Having grown up with loud computers, I'm always surprised when people say the intel stock is loud. It's quiet it me! If you aren't overclocking, just keep the stock heatsink. As far as temperatures go, for this specific processor at least, I've been idling at around 34C (I used Arctic MX2 Thermal Compound) and the max I've hit with any cpu intensive game was 51C. I'm not sure if the stock thermal compound is any good though, so invest in a cheap 7 dollar thermal compound that works 10x better (like the brand I used).

Im pretty new to pc buliding first of all.
And i want to add graphics card to my build of course but im kind of stuck on the thought if i need like a crossfire bridge in order to use the gpu card instead of the intergrated graphics if that makes sense ._.
like is there anything i need to do in order to use the gpu instead of the intel graphics ?? Or will my pc use the gpu automatically ??

Hi Ivan,

There's a few things you should take into account:
Depending on the size of the gpu, you should make sure first that your pc case can house the gpu. If it can, you'll also need to be sure your power supply has enough wattage to run not only the new gpu, but everything else in the rig. Additionally, you should be sure you have the proper power connectors to supply power to the new gpu. (A new psu should have these already attached to it for use.)

From there, your motherboard would need the correct pci slot to run a new card. If its a new motherboard, this shouldn't be an issue. You'll need a pci-e16 slot -(typically.) Once the new gpu is installed in this slot and after drivers are installed for it, your motherboard would be running your graphics through the gpu, rather than integrated. There are a lot of factors that come into play when upgrading your gpu - unfortunately, sometimes it's not as easy as a straight "plug-n-play" experience. I hope this helps. Do your research! :)

LGA 1150 stands for Land Grid Array, meaning that the socket has 1,150 pins that connect the motherboard to the processor upon installation. It is also known as an H3 socket.

So i was wandering, would i need to purchase thermal compound with the stock heatsink/fan that it comes with? Or will there be no heating problems without overclocking the processor and I won't need the thermal compound?

If you aren't going to be over clocking and are planning on using the stock CPU fan provided you wouldn't need to purchase any thermal paste. The fan already has it applied. Just don't forget to remove any plastic that may be covering the contact points!

Yes, just as the other Intel processors, it comes with a stock fan. If you're planning to overclock, you might think about buying a "third party" system. Cooler Master is popular or just go liquid. Just depends on your usage.

Will this processor work for my pc? I have a Dell XPS 420

The Dell XPS 420 has an LGA775 CPU socket, which is compatible with the Core2 Duo and Core2 Quad series. This CPU requires an LGA1150 socket and is not compatible with your motherboard.
To use this CPU, you'll need to purchase a compatible set of motherboard/memory along with it.

I noticed it came with a fan. Is a CPU cooler (mounted fan) necessary along with my other 4 fans on my case?

Using this CPU without an approved heatsink and fan mounted on top of it can void your warranty when it overheats. You may not see that kind of heat from light usage, but once you run a program or game that taxes the CPU, it will get very hot very fast.

Please make sure that you plug the CPU's cooling fan into the CPU FAN socket on the motherboard. This socket is monitored by the motherboard, and the speed of the fan is usually adjusted as needed. This fan also usually runs much faster than a case fan.

For everyday use, such as movie/video watching, web browsing, major multi-tasking, and occasional gaming (mainly the total war series, ck2, etc), this, or the fx-8350? thanks!

Absolutely the i5, it is a much strong and more reliable processor. Dont get me wrong, the FX 8350 is a vreat work horse. But, if you can fit it in your budget the i5 would be a better investment. Im not biased towards AMD or intel like most people, but based on facts, the intel will suit you much better and give you better results. But if you have a tight budget, the FX 8350 will do you just fine as well

Ive always told myself and other people...
Price/Performance = AMD takes the cake
Raw Performance = Always go intel

Also, Intels are much more power efficient. The only real benefit the FX 8350 will have over the intel is that it has 8 full cores over the i5's 4 cores since it doesnt have hyperthreading. But as i said before, overall the i5 will be a better processor hands down IF you can fit it in your budget.
