This site has, in the past, showed options which are not currently available but a glitch..  So you may see orange option boxes which may not be actually active and you just get sent to the out of stock page.

As far as I have heard, there will be an Embargo until the 30th but I am hoping a preorder may come sooner.  When the 10th gen was released, the i7s  were available before the i9s.

Question 2

Will this be better for photo editing software like Photoshop and lightroom than the 10900k? I'm a photographer currently using the 4790k and want to upgrade. All I care about is photo editing performance. if this isn't going to be better I might as well get the 10900k, save some money and not have to wait for scalpers/bots to stop buying this thing.

This CPU targets real-time 3D applications - so games and VR, and it absolutely excels at it. If that is not important to you, and you need multi-core performance - get an AMD 5900X instead.

Will this work with a z490 motherboard?

Is Newegg ever going to do something about the scalpers that use bots to buy? Like this CPU? Or all the 3080 and 3090 GPU's? Regular buyers have no chance.

Did anyone else receive this CPU in a box like this? I don't understand why it didn't come in the official box.

Hello, sorry that your Intel CPU didn't in the box.  I Received mine in a cardboard outer case with a matching plastic container. It came with all marking and I-9 Sticker for my case. Hope this answers your question.

Does this box come with a heatsink and fan or does that need to be purchased separately?

This or 10900k for gaming?  I'm reading that this runs way hot even with a 360mm AIO.  Plus the framerate between the two CPUs are minimal.

at stock settings with only a 120mm aio, i didnt get anything over 65c for 24 hours while gaming and normal benchmark use. after switching to my custom water loop temps are in the 20s-30s for gaming im not kinding - heatkiller pro 4 and 2 x radiators 240, 360 all push pulls

This or 10900k for gaming?  I'm reading that this is way hotter even with a 360mm AIO cooler.  The difference between the two are minimal.

Not much difference between the two other than pcie 4.0 support that "this" offers. Based on alderlake coming in, my recommendation - 10900k sadly

Mine came with an order through Newegg Kerfuffle launch day and let me tell you, you aren't missing out on a thing if you didn't get it.  In fact, I don't think it is going far enough to say they did you a favor by not including this piece of landfill junk.  It is right up there with the crummiest of free convention trinkets made out of the cheapest mold injected plastics.  An Intel branded beer bottle opener would probably have been a better option so you could at least have the convenience of opening and enjoying a beer while staring the logo in the face which is the reason as to why you are drinking to begin with while you spend endless hours going through all the permutations of memory settings trying to desperately match the benches of a 10900k while coping with the loss of $615 USD... but I digress.
