say 677 to 800 fsb and maybe a bios update.
so chips may not be bad?

You don't necessarily have to upgrade the ram, in fact, some motherboards will only allow so much ram. Do a Crucial scan to see how much ram your mobo can hold. As far as a bios update, don't believe it is necessary either, check manufactures website for available updates.

Yes, but this processor is so old that performance would be subpar when running apps because they are more demanding now days. In laymen's terms you'd see lag, freezeups and hitching in apps. It'd be fine for a okish for a media center PC, but expect it to start showing signs of struggle past 720p. Especially when watching Youtube videos.
