Today's demanding personal computing world requires more than just processor speed. You need the power of the Pentium D 950, offering the simultaneous operations found only in a dual core processor. This nimble chip features two processor cores each running at 3.4GHz with an integrated 2MB L2 cache. Intel's manufacturing process reduces power consumption and improves thermal performance permitting faster processor speeds without heat-induced failures. Users today want the most productivity and enjoyment from their PCs when running multiple applications at the same time. The Intel dual core processor gives you the resources to support both multitasking and multiusers. Drive your system to new levels with this high performance chip that gives you two processors in one.
Dual-Core Processing with 2x2MB L2 CacheIntel dual-core Pentium 950 processors have two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency. The cores share the same interface with chipset and memory, but each core has its own set of registers and cache for truly parallel computing. Each processor core has its own 2MB L2 Cache (4MB total) enabling improved overall system performance by allowing each core to have faster access to larger amounts of the most often used area.
Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT)With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows creating unique user environments for multiple family members using the same platform simultaneously.
Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T)Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the desktop processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
Execute Disable Bit (EDB)Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
Pros: We all know this proc runs awesome, I just wanted to let everyone know this works in a Dell XPS 400. Bios A05 recognizes it and everything. Cache reads as 2 X 2MB and everything. Big performance gain in my games.
Cons: None, unless you have money for an extreme?
Overall Review: WORKS IN A DELL XPS 400 and Dimension 9150!

screaming fast with a lil OCing7/26/2006 4:45:35 PM
Cons: None so far, assuming you use a decent case with good airflow. If not, you may have some heat issues.
Overall Review: When it comes to hardward I'm kind of a newb. I had never built my own system. I saw some really cool looking rigs at Axx.com, but the prices were outragous. So, I copied down all of the specs, and built it myself for about half of the cost. ASUS P5WD2 premium mobo, intel PD 950 3.4 Ghz, 1 gig kingston 800mhz ram, Antek TPII 550 w, ASUS silent geforce 7600GS, seagate 320 gig SATA, dual lightscribes.... Even I, who have pretty low knowledge of building systems was able to easily slap this puppy together, and I have overclocked it to 4.1Ghz LOL and all for about 900 bucks from scratch. THANKS NEWEGG!
Pros: Speeds through bootup, can play deathmatches on CS source and have itoons playing also without any haggle of performance or speed. This, coupled with OCZ RAM is awsome!!!!
Cons: price, no free gift with purchase :-( would have liked another pencil holder or a free t-shirt, i like the one that says "Extream Outdoor Enthusiast" its awsome
Overall Review: Easy install. Bios says 30c but other programs(in windows) say its cooled down to 15c!(60F!) when its only 70F in my room! Hope nothing screwy is happening with my pc readings. Scores very high in Lavalys Monitoring Program.

Very fast CPU9/10/2006 6:06:40 AM
Pros: This CPU meets all requirements for what I need to do.
Cons: Runs a little warm with stock HSF. Idle: 47C...Full load 57C.
Pros: FAST, kills my old P4 2.8. Stays pretty cool.
Cons: My fan goes 4500 RPM almost all the time...maybe this is because i only have one case fan cooling my cpu, maybe the fan itself is defective, or maybe my mobo is crazy :)
Overall Review: (Pentium D 950 ASUS P5N32 SLI SE Deluxe mobo, 2x1 gigs Corsair DDR2 XMS2 memory, BFG GeForce 7900GTOC, SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic)
Pros: Love this chip, had it for over a year and never noticed anything wrong with it. Easy to install. Handles new games with ease while still running other programs.
Cons: factory heatsink does not cut it.
Overall Review: The fan it comes with sucks, you will need to purchase a third party heatsink for it.
Pros: Makes my games run much smoother and I can also burn two dvds at the same time with no problems at all.
Runs very cool compared to my old P4 HT with a slight OC was running at 34c idle and 56c at full load this PD 950 is OCed from 3.4 to 3.8 and runs at 16c at idle and 34c at full load
Cons: None to do with the CPU I had to do 2 Bios Flash updates to run stable but hell that took a whole 2 minutes to do small price to pay for performance
Overall Review: I give it a 4 because nothing is perfect. But I really like it it does exactly what I thought it would do "Go Fast"
