is this  refurbished laptop by the manufacturer? or  by a 3rd party

This is refurbished by Lenovo out of their North Carolina facility.  Mine included a micro USB cable that turned out to be defective (would not charge and was loose).  Too much trouble to worry about since I just used one I already had.  This tablet is working great and is fairly snappy. No regrets, although I van see myself upgrading to a Surface Pro 2 once the price comes down.  Starting to like Windows 8.1 on a tablet.

does it have MS office?

I believe mine came with a "trial use it for x days / unlock it with payment" install.

I already have the suite it so didn't use theirs for anything and deleted it.

upgradeable to windows 8.1?

Yes it is upgradable.  However, there are two drivers on the lenovo website for 8.1 that you need to install (don't accidentally install the windows 8 drivers, that killed my machine...)  If you don't install the drivers after the 8.1 update, the machine is sluggish and the video looks terrible.  Installed the drivers and the machine runs great.  Honestly, the changes in Internet Explorer alone make it worth the update.

Does this tablet have the ability to be hooked up to a keyboard?

Yes it can be. The out let that is used for charging is also use for usb. I was able to hook up my cd  player and load programs from disc.  So you can use a usb keyboard. However I just ordered a Bluetooth key board for 19.99 and will use a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

Is this as good as the New ones? Does it come with all the acessories?

It comes as if it was new.  There's a couple of cords for using the usb and power.  It's really a nice Win 8 platform, and seems plenty fast for most uses.

There's about 32GB of the 64GB flash available to use.  I loaded Office on it and it used a up very little space.

Remember this is a real Intel PC inside, not a Win 8 RT that can't run regular PC apps.

No, it does not come with MS Office, though the price is right even if you need to buy office. It's a great tablet.  That said, do not buy the keyboard unless they have revised it! It is aweful! There are many well deserved bad reviews on the web about it.

If you got a micro usb to usb adapter will it run a external hard drive?

It's a windows device, so it should run it as it would if plugged into any normal windows PC. Everything I've plugged in, the drivers installed and runs without issue so far (including a micro USB to ethernet connection after I wiped the device from scratch and reloaded the drivers for the wireless by hardwiring for internet connection). I have a portable toshiba drive that loads without issue. Some larger external HDDs will need additional power from an external source (outlet).

please tell me if these could come with windows pro and also docking stations as well as a case to carry?

Mine came with windows 8 (not pro or rt). However it allowed me to update to windows 8.1 for no additional cost.
The dock and carrying case need to be purchased separately.
For my purposes, its still the best I've seen in this price range.

Does anyone have a problem with the touchscreen not working or the keyboard not chargeable when screen is plugged into it?

I didn't buy the docking keyboard. I bought a case with a stand, and I use a separate Bluetooth keyboard. I use it almost daily and it works great!
