Does this system come with any HDD or SDD, if so how many?

No. The are not any HDD or SSD's in this system. I've successfully installed dual-SSD in RAID-0 for great performance!

What is the max amount of HDD or SDD that are able to be installed? Wanting to get a final pricing for HDD/SDD drives and this server tower.

To answer your question, there are 5 SATA ports, and it will easily accommodate 4 hard drives with no modification. There are 2 hard drive trays, and you can mount two more in the bottom 5.25 bay and in an area just below. One SATA port is meant for eSATA.

Would it be possible to upgrade the processor to a Xeon E5 series processor?

No. This model supported CPU have a graphic core.
E5 Serise is not have graphic core.
This model CPU upgrade is possible Xeon E3 with graphic core.

Does the unit have a SSD tray, or is that a separate purchase (recommendations?).

The "Poor Man's Server" that I built has two 2TB 3.5 in. drives in the two drive bays and I put a 120 MB 2.5 in. SSD in a carrier that reduced the remaining 5.25 in. drive bay to a place for two 2.5 in. drives.  If you use a 2.5 in. SSD you will need some type of carrier to reduce from 3.5 to 2.5 or 5.25 to 2.5.  Be aware that if you use the 3.5 in. drive bays, you will need a right angle SATA cable since the clearances between the business end of the drive and the side of the case is quite close.

This is a low end SERVER that is supplied without operating system and drives.  I used for a "poor man's server" with Win 7 Pro as the OS with a 120 GB SSD as the system drive and a pair of 1 TB HD in Raid 1 configuration.  I was amazed at the performance of a simple i3 server with 4GB RAM.

Does the Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 70A40037UX support the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system?

I purchased the TS140 i3 server for a home based "poor man's server" which uses Windows 7 Pro as the operating system.  The server drives are a 120 GB system drive and two 1 TB HDD's in a RAID 1 (mirroring) configuration using software RAID available in Win7 Pro.  I am impressed by the speed and easy setup of the hardware and operating system.  I had previously set up a server of this description, still in daily use, almost three years ago for a county historical society.  I assume that it would also support Win7 Home Premium; but doubt that OS would support RAID.
