Pros: Is a good price
Cons: A tad bit noisy but not to much
Overall Review: Burns fast and no coasters so fat. Does what it is supposed to is a bit louder than other drives but it seems to quiet down after the first 30 seconds or so.
Pros: LG ODDs never give me any trouble, they just work, and they're always available at a good price.
Cons: None, just be aware at this price point all you're getting is a bare drive with no cable or software.
Overall Review: I used this in a new build to install the operating system and it did just what it was supposed to, but I haven't tried burning any discs yet. I sure don't miss the old days of setting jumpers. You just basically pop one of these into the case, hook up that power and SATA cables, and you're golden.
Pros: POwers on, reads the discs. No issues or complaints
Pros: It did what it was supposed to.
was on the cheaper side.
Overall Review: Guess I got what I paid for with this one.
Pros: This drive has worked well in the seven months I have been using it. I bought it more than two years ago as a spare. It is used about twice per month (mostly to burn .iso Linux distributions to DVDs. It's fast and noise level is low when reading and when writing. I can rely on this drive everyday.
Cons: My only complaint is that, when burning media, the options available for speed rate are limited. Depending on the operating system I using, minimum burn rates are often too high for the media. Typically, the lowest option is 16MB/sec. The disks I use may state up to 12 MB/sec burn speed. The burns are successful, nonetheless. The burned disks work in everything I insert them into.
Overall Review: My LG drive came wrapped in bubble wrap. As anticipated, nothing else was included. It was well-wrapped and protected. It arrived undamaged. It works with Windows 7 and also with every version of Linux I have tried it in. Needless to say, I like this inexpensive DVD burner. I'm happy with my purchase.
Pros: Cheaply priced unit , especially when on sale.
Supports multitude of formats
Burns great, plays great
Not as noisy as some others
Cons: Can occasionally produce a coaster if you are trying to burn at max speed
Overall Review: Love these drives, have 6 of them in various builds. They work great and always are affordable. Generally will pick one up as a spare when it on sale, for a future build type of thing.
Like ANY burner, your success rate for a good burn always increases the SLOWER you set the burn rate. Just cause it can burn at X speed, doesn't necessarily mean it will be a good burn every time. I tend to burn one up from lowest speed and never get a coaster.
That's just been my experience.
Solid overall construction and tray
Cons: Can be loud when writing and reading
Overall Review: Does not come with SATA cable
Ships only in bubble wrap
Has blinky light
Pros: Read fine for a while.
Cons: Failed after 3 months. Was trying to write a DVD for the first time... the laser burned out. LG tech support has been very disappointing. It took several attempts to reach them, and they emailed me a month ago that they would process an RMA, but never got back to me. They don't reply to email, and I'm not wasting my time on the phone over a $15 item. LG lost a customer.
