My son would like to use hard drive to hold his games on his Xbox one. Will this format work with Xbox one usb?

I don't know if this is the right device for your purpose.  Yes, I'm sure it will hold the data just fine.  The issue I see might be two fold.  First, is the speed of the drive.  If you're planning to play games directly from the device, it may prove to lag especially if large files are needing to be loaded frequently during game play.  I have some fairly large files (say in the 2-4 GB range and on a USB 2 port about the best rates I could get was about 15MB / SEC transfer rate.  File Fragmentation may be part of this but I moved several large files off my desktop onto this device when it was new.  I also had to create a directory on my desktop drive, copy all. the files & directories off the passport, then perform a long format and restore all the data I coppied.  While the drive worked fine, reformatting the drive helped it's overall performance and I then received read speeds of about 25 MB/Second.  
 
The other thing is, while this is a "PORTABLE" drive, I certanly wouldn't want to be dragging it all over the world.  It seems to be a good device for my needs but as a device to play games off of, I'm not sure.  Personally, I'd prefer a 7200 RPM device instead of a 5400 RPM device.

Am sorry, but I don't understand the question. It has 4TB storage capacity and for the same size and weight of the 2TB Passport. I think it's a great deal.
