Is this a wireless external hard drive?

No it is not wireless. It came with a 16 inch cord with a USB hookup. Works great especially with smart tvs!

What is "hardware encryption?"

To make it simplified and short, it's basically security protection for anything you store on the drive. It's like having your computer password protected just to use it, although its password protection for just your hard drive. You can activate this feature if you want, otherwise it will most likely be disabled by default. This is the easiest way for me to explain it. Hope this helps! Bought this drive and Love it!
