I was told that this Ram was OK for my Dell Latitude D520.  I install the ram and will not boot up.  Replace with the old and works fine.  Re seated the new ram and still not working, what now?

The specs for your old memory is:

    Bus Speed: PC2-6400 (DDR2-800)

The Mushkin memory you purchased is a slower speed. Note, your old RAM was PC2-6400, the Mushkin is PC2-5300. You must match the numbers after the "PC-2"-XXXX. You did not. Additionally, I did not check your Dell's specs, but it must have a Dual Core Intel processor to use Dual Channel memory like the Mushkin. If you don't, that was two strikes against it not working.

There were no problems. Memory is rather universal. If the computer's motherboard, bios is compatible, as I see it is, it will work ...

That particular model is said to support only a total of 2GB so you would need the 2GB (2 x 1GB)  of the same memory

Question 4

I want to increase my memory capacity from 2GB(2x1 GB) to 4GB (2x2GB). Can I use this product to acheive this goal?

Ensure that the memory you are replacing is DDR2.
Also look at the speed rating, "DDR2 667". 
The memory can have a higher rating than what the memory controller on you Laptop is rated for. Just don't shortchange yourself by purchasing memory that is rated slower than what your machine can support.

FYI, one stick out of the my pair arrived DOA. The customer I ordered it for was too impatient to wait on an RMA.

Just use crucial(dot)com and compare specs to the upgrade products they offer they offer for your model laptop.....CL and Voltage match as well as everything else.  should work flawlessly.  just be sure you have the correct model of your laptop.

I spoke to Lenovo yesterday before putting this order in and I was told that any Laptop memory with the specifications 200pin DDR2 SO-DIMM 667mhz (PC2 5300) would work in the Lenovo T60 6371 ThinkPad Laptop.
I just wanted to make sure, from you that this memory is compatible with this Laptop? Am I correct when placing this order?

I bought some of that years ago and put it in a MacBook Pro. It seems to work fine in that machine, but not sure about the Lenovo ThinkPad. I imagine it probably would, but mine ended up in a Mac.

Yes it should fit.  The specs I read that for your Toshiba said that your laptop should accept DDR2 667 MHz PC2 5300 SIMM for a max for 4GB using 2 2GB SIMMs

Some of the Netbooks will not allow for upgrade because the ram is integrated onto the board, so check youtube 1st.
