Just as the Sigma Global Vision 18-35mm F 1.8 DC HSM Art Lens revolutionized the world of photography, the Sigma 50-100mm F 1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for Nikon F, bundled with Hoya 82mm UV and CPL filters, takes it a step further. This mid-range zoom lens, equivalent to 75-150mm on a 35mm format, is designed with the same engineering excellence to deliver prime lens-like performance. With an APS-C image circle of 1.5 x, the 50-100mm F 1.8 lens covers three popular short tele prime focal lengths: 85mm, 105mm, and 135mm. It maintains a constant F 1.8 aperture throughout the zoom range, offering exceptional brightness and resolution. The lens also maintains focus while zooming, a feature that videographers will find invaluable. The Sigma Art Line Image Technology Innovation is at the heart of this lens. It features three FLD (F Low Dispersion) glass elements, one SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element, and one high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass element to minimize aberrations. The redesigned Hyper Sonic Motor is 30% slimmer and delivers fast and accurate autofocus. The lens also boasts a highly durable polycarbonate diaphragm with fluorine-coated blades, ensuring smooth operation even during continuous shooting. The inner focusing and zoom design of the Sigma 50-100mm F 1.8 lens offer versatile shooting options. It also comes with a tripod socket for stable and comfortable operation. The lens features 21 elements in 15 groups, has a minimum aperture of F 1.6, an 82mm filter thread, and a minimum focus distance of 37.4 inches. It measures 3.7 x 6.7 inches and weighs 52.6 ounces. Sigma Global Vision lenses, including the new 50-100mm F 1.8 DC Art and 30mm F 1.4 Contemporary lenses, can be updated with the latest lens software from a workstation or laptop using the Sigma Optimization Pro software and Sigma USB Dock (sold separately).
Sigma lenses are the result of thoughtful design concepts, exceptional Japanese craftsmanship, and advanced lens performance testing and evaluation. Sigma has developed its own A1 proprietary MTF (modulation transfer function) measuring system using 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors. This ensures that even the most elusive high-frequency details are within the scope of Sigma's quality control inspections. Every Global Vision lens is A1 tested, analyzed, and approved before leaving the factory, ensuring maximum performance right out of the box.
