Question 1

Is it suitable for video files and editing work?

Accepted Answer

It can suit portable storage and file transfers for video work: it offers 2TB capacity and up to 1,000 MB/s read speed. For editing directly from the drive, performance may vary by computer and workload; one Reddit discussion about camera recording recommends checking that a drive is approved for the specific camera. Keep separate copies of important footage.

Question 2

Will it actually transfer files at 1,000 MB/s?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. The product is rated for read speeds up to 1,000 MB/s, but actual speed depends on the computer, USB port, cable, and workload. A Reddit user testing a 2TB Extreme reported about 380 MB/s in their setup, so treat the listed speed as a maximum, not a guarantee.

Question 3

Is it reliable enough to be my only backup?

Accepted Answer

It should not be the only copy of important files. Reddit discussions include both reports of long-term use without problems and reports of drive failures or data loss. Those experiences do not establish the failure rate of this specific unit, so keep another independent backup.

Question 4

Is it suitable for storing photos, videos, and creative project files?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Its 2TB capacity and read speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s make it suitable for storing and moving photos, videos, and other large files. It is an external storage drive, not a substitute for keeping a separate backup of important files.

Question 5

Do I need to install drivers or software to transfer files?

Accepted Answer

No special driver or setup is listed for basic use; the product is described as USB-C ready for plug-and-play file transfers. Check your device’s connection and file-system requirements if it does not recognize the drive.

Question 6

Is this 2TB SSD a good choice for carrying work files while traveling?

Accepted Answer

It is suited to portable file storage and backups: the drive holds 2TB, is pocket-sized, and has no moving parts. It is rated for drops up to 2 meters, but the provided product information does not specify water or dust resistance.

Question 7

How fast is it for transferring large files?

Accepted Answer

The listed maximum sequential read speed is up to 1,000 MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 2. It is intended to reduce transfer waits for large files, though the stated maximum is not a guarantee of the speed in every setup.

Question 8

SanDisk Extreme 2TB or Samsung T7 Shield 2TB—which should I buy?

Accepted Answer

Both are portable USB 3.2 Gen 2 SSDs in a similar advertised speed class. The SanDisk listing specifies up to 1,000 MB/s read and drop protection up to 2 meters; Samsung specifies up to 1,050 MB/s read and IP65 dust and water resistance. Choose the SanDisk if its capacity, drop-protection specification, and price fit your needs; choose the T7 Shield if its stated IP65 rating is a deciding requirement. Advertised peak speeds alone do not establish a meaningful real-world winner.

Question 9

How does this compare with the Crucial X9 Pro 2TB?

Accepted Answer

They are both compact 2TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 portable SSDs designed for fast file transfers. Crucial rates the X9 Pro for up to 1,050 MB/s read and write and specifies IP55 dust and water resistance plus 2-meter drop protection. This SanDisk listing specifies up to 1,000 MB/s read and 2-meter drop protection. Choose the X9 Pro if its published IP55 rating or write-speed specification matters to you; choose the SanDisk if it better fits your budget or device setup. Independent benchmark results vary by test and configuration, so they do not establish a universal performance winner.

Question 10

Should I get this SanDisk Extreme or a USB4 portable SSD?

Accepted Answer

Choose this 2TB SanDisk Extreme for everyday transfers and portable storage on USB 3.2 Gen 2. Choose the SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD with USB4 if your computer supports USB4 and you regularly move very large files: SanDisk rates that model for up to 4,000 MB/s read and 3,800 MB/s write, versus up to 1,000 MB/s read for this listing. The faster drive’s advantage depends on having a compatible host connection.
