The Audio-Technica ATH-M20xSTS is a closed-back over-ear monitoring headset with 40 mm drivers and a cardioid boom microphone, suited to streamers and content creators who want listening and voice capture in one setup.
Recommended For
- Live streamers who spend most of their time at a desk and want one wired headset for game audio and close-mic voice capture, with a boom that flips up to mute.
- PC and console gamers who want wired stereo audio plus a directional boom mic for team chat, without needing wireless features or gaming software.
- Podcasters and video creators who record or monitor at a desk and prefer a headset-mounted mic over setting up a separate microphone and stand.
- Creators who switch between compatible computers, phones, and consoles and value a detachable wired connection with USB-A and USB-C adapters over wireless freedom.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- During a livestream, a creator can monitor game or desktop audio and speak to viewers through the same wired headset; the directional boom mic keeps voice capture close and the flip-up mute makes quick pauses easier.
- For recording a podcast or spoken content at a desk, the headset lets a solo creator hear playback while recording with the attached mic, reducing the need to set up separate headphones and a microphone.
- For PC or console gaming with team chat, the player can hear game audio and communicate through the boom mic; the wired connection avoids needing to charge a headset battery.
- When reviewing or editing video at a desk, a creator can listen to dialogue, music, and other playback while keeping the mic available for voiceover or live commentary; it is suited to monitoring, rather than a guarantee of mix-accurate mastering.
- For a long streaming or recording session, its light build and mesh earpads may make continuous desk use more comfortable; fit and comfort will still depend on the wearer.
