The cameras have built-in batteries and work wire-free. The solar panels have wires. If you are OK to take cameras down for recharge every few months, you can use them without solar panels and their wires. The indoor base (NVR) does require power.
I tried to recharge the cameras but they are not recharged.
You can see the battery charging status on the NVR screen. Please use relatively older 5V 1A (5W) or 5V 2A (10W) phone chargers to charge the cameras. Higher Watt may cause failure of recharge.
Do the cameras actually last forever with solar power after 1st recharge?
The 1st recharge charges cameras to 100%. Then the solar panels replenish power every day. If the weather is fine and the cams are not activated too frequently, yes it shall last. Otherwise you may need to charge some cameras every few months.
Is the 64GB SD card enough to keep videos of past 90 days?
If your cameras are not activated too frequently, the SD card shall keep videos of more than 90 days. They skip empty still videos and keep motion-triggered videos and compress them in H.265. You may add a 2.5" HDD if you'd like to save more videos.
Why the cameras are not sensing some activities?
The PIR sensors sense areas within 35ft x 120 degrees. Within the fan area, the cameras detect people, animals & vehicles, send messages and record the activities. The cameras will ignore most movements of plants to avoid disturbing to you.
