Troubleshooting: The PIR Motion Sensor operates, but the base station does not respond. a. Verify the base station's power supply is functioning correctly. Ensure the base station and sensor are paired. If not paired, pair them. b. The distance between the sensor and the base station may be excessive. The sensor signal may not be transmitted back (operating distance is up to 800 meters in an open environment and 400 meters in an obstructed environment). PIR Motion Sensor detects motion only intermittently. Set the PIR Motion Sensor Switch #2 to the high sensitivity setting. The PIR sensor detects the movements of heat sources. Adjust the sensor eye to a horizontal angle towards a vehicle's engine. The system is giving false alarms. Check for moving tree branches or insects in the sensor window and remove as needed. PIR Motion Sensors can also be activated by light shining directly or reflected into the sensor window. Condensation may have accumulated on the sensor. Wipe condensation from the PIR motion sensor with a cotton swab. Remove the 4 AA batteries and let the sensor dry inside for several hours, exposed to air.
The sensor should correct itself once dry. Check the Sensor Switches on the PIR Motion Sensor. The system is not achieving the expected transmission range. Ensure the PIR Motion Sensors are vertically aligned, not mounted on the far side of a tree, and away from metal objects. Ensure the Base Station antenna is vertical and has the clearest possible line of sight to the sensors. The fewer objects between the devices, the greater the range
