It is designed to operate Generation 1 and Generation 2 Powerview Shades manufactured from July 1, 2015 up to July 1, 2022. **It WILL NOT work for new Generation 3 shades.** If you have a skinny rectangle remote, this remote is not compatible with your system. You must pair the remote to your shades. It will not function automatically with your shades out of the box
