Would this drive be alright for an internal backup for desktop pc?

It would be a good internal drive for whatever purpose, but it's not built for resiliency as their Black line is designed for performance first. Check out their RED drives if you want to just use it as backup storage; your files will be safer.

No, but mine screwed right in to the mount.

I received the 2.5 drive. It was easy to install into my MSI laptop and have not had any issues with it. They probably just put up a stock photo of a WD Black 1TB drive.
