I couldn't answer that question properly. I bought this for a client not for myself. I'm sure you could get a GPS app for it. But I wouldn't use that on Wi-Fi. Not sure if this tablet vcan use carriers such as Verizon or at&t. Google will be your best friend for this question.

will tablet accept additional memory card?

Yes, it will accept a Micro SSD card. Docs that came with it do not list max size.  I think I had a 32G in there at one time. Moved it to a different tablet. You may want to check with Lenovo on max size.

Is there some special cover or keyboard required, or can generic 3rd-party tablet covers be used?

Hi, I bought this unit for my wife and she went online and found a generic cover that included a cordless keyboard and power cable to charge the keyboard.  The cover has a large opening for the camera however some of the speaker area is covered up.  Hope this helps!
