Question 2

Is the push button ok to mount outdoors? is it somewhat water proof?

Accepted Answer

I did mount my outdoors but it is under an awning and does not come in direct contact with rain, outside of misting from the wind blowing the rain. Looking at the plastic housing, I believe over time water might seep into the battery compartment and degrade the internal components. Hope this helps. Steve

I guess it depends on your hearing. We have a 2 story condo and can hear the chime from the upstairs with no problem. We are in our seventy's and there are not any children in the home. My wife has a sewing room in the back of the unit upstairs and she cannot hear it if she is sewing up there with the door closed, there fore I purchased a separate chime for the sewing room.

Question 7

Is this an extender for wired door chime. I need am extender so that when in basement can hear the doorbell?

Accepted Answer

This is not an extender. This is a wireless replacement for what is usually a wired bell inside the house. The package includes a wireless push button whose role is similar to a conventional door bell button. In summary, this is a wireless replacement for a standard wired button and bell.

In place of an extender, this can rigged as a supplemental bell by installing an external Honeywell wireless motion detector at your door, with this piece in the basement. Whether false rings would be an issue or not, I can't say.

Place unit 2 into programming mode, press doorbell button. They two really don't know each other but are receiving the same signal from the doorbell.
