Question 1

Can this motherboard support DDR4 memory?

Accepted Answer

No, It supports DDR5 memory, DDR4 memory has a different configuration and won't even plug into this board.

Question 2

How many standard sata connections does this motherboard have for hd drives?

Accepted Answer

It has 4 SATA connections. It's a "great" mobo! All the Bells n Whistles.
[Just remember to update the BIOS as soon as you fire it up]

Question 3

What cables, antennas, and additional components are included in the box with the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI R motherboard?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI motherboard comes with a set of antennas for the built-in WiFi 7, as well as standard SATA cables for storage connections. It also includes screws and thermal pads to help with M.2 SSD installation, ensuring you're covered for basic setup and connectivity right out of the box.

Keep in mind that while these accessories handle networking and storage needs, you’ll need to provide your own power cables, display connectors, and other peripherals. If you plan to take full advantage of the USB4 Type-C or PCIe 5.0 slots, make sure your case and power supply are compatible with these advanced standards.

Question 4

How does the ASUS ROG STRIX X870-E GAMING WIFI motherboard support 7.1 surround sound HD audio with only 2 audio jacks on the rear panel?

Accepted Answer

For analog connections - it uses the connectors from the rear and front panel (rear/line out - front, rear/mic in-center/subwoofer, front/headphone - side, front/mic in-rear). You'll be trading mic and headphone connectors for the extra speakers. (search for the manual, p.31, link not allowed)
Otherwise, you can use HDMI to a receiver.

Question 5

What is the maximum memory capacity supported by the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI motherboard?

Accepted Answer

Even though it has 256GB of memory capability, you need to find the "right" memory dimms for it to actually work. It won't even hold 32GB of memory if it's the wrong type. Check the owner's manual first "before" buying your memory sticks. You might regret it!

Question 6

Has the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI R motherboard shown any common issues with VRM overheating or component degradation over extended gaming use?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI motherboard is designed with a robust 18+2+2 power stage VRM running at 110A per stage, which is well-suited to handle high-core count AMD Ryzen 7000 and 9000 series CPUs without common VRM overheating issues. Its high-quality components and effective cooling solutions help maintain VRM stability even under extended gaming or heavy workloads.

That said, for sustained overclocking or extremely heavy loads, ensuring proper case airflow and using aftermarket cooling on VRM heatsinks can further improve thermal performance. Compared to some lower-end boards, its power delivery is more than capable, making it a solid choice unless you push the CPU far beyond stock settings consistently.

Question 7

What are the recommended fan and liquid cooling mounting points on the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI R motherboard for maintaining optimal CPU temperatures during intense gaming sessions?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI R motherboard provides multiple fan headers ideally placed around the CPU socket to support efficient cooling. It supports standard 4-pin PWM fan connectors for air cooling as well as dedicated AIO pump headers for liquid cooling systems, which helps maintain stable CPU temperatures during heavy workloads or gaming.

Keep in mind, the motherboard’s layout allows mounting of radiators up to 360mm in your case, but airflow depends a lot on your case choice and fan configuration. If you’re running high-end Ryzen 9000 series CPUs with overclocking, pairing a quality 240mm or larger AIO with active case fans ensures the best balance of noise and cooling performance.

Question 8

Is the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI R a worthwhile upgrade from an older ASUS B550 motherboard for future Ryzen CPU support and gaming performance?

Accepted Answer

If you're looking to support future Ryzen CPUs beyond the 7000 series and benefit from faster connectivity and power delivery, the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E is a solid upgrade from a B550 board. It supports AMD AM5 socket processors with enhanced power stages and PCIe 5.0 for both GPU and storage, which is a significant leap from B550's PCIe 4.0. This means better performance headroom and future-proofing for next-gen processors and SSDs.

Keep in mind though, if your current setup is handling your gaming workload well, the biggest gains will come from pairing this board with a high-end Ryzen 7000 series or later CPU plus PCIe 5.0 SSDs or GPUs. The more advanced AI and overclocking features are a nice bonus but might be overkill unless you’re pushing your system hard or want the latest connectivity, like WiFi 7 and USB4.

Question 9

How does the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI R motherboard's multi-threaded and single-threaded performance support compare to the MSI MEG X670E ACE for high-end gaming builds?

Accepted Answer

The ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI motherboard supports high-end Ryzen 7000 and 8000 series CPUs, delivering robust multi-threaded and single-threaded performance thanks to its 18+2+2 power stages and advanced overclocking features like Dynamic OC Switcher and AI OCing. Compared to the MSI MEG X670E ACE, the ASUS board offers similar core performance with slightly more PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots and USB 4 ports, which can provide better bandwidth for storage and peripherals in demanding gaming setups.

While both boards handle high-end gaming well, the ASUS board’s enhanced cooling and power delivery may offer more stable sustained performance during prolonged multi-threaded workloads like streaming or content creation alongside gaming. If you prioritize raw overclocking headroom and future-proof connectivity, the ASUS edges out the MSI slightly, but you'll want a capable GPU to avoid bottlenecking at higher resolutions.

Question 10

Can I use a 6000mt RAM with this motherboard?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the motherboard supports DDR5 memory with a standard of 4400 MT/s and can support up to 8000+ MT/s with overclocking, which includes 6000 MT/s RAM.
