First one was unstable. The replacement board has run for 11 years so far. 5/29/2019 6:20:19 PM

Pros: I bought it in 2008. It's still going now in 2019 with no issues. I've upgraded RAM, multiple video cards, etc and no issues so far. When Gigabyte says it's Ultra Durable, it is. I'm definitely buying from them again. Good install instructions and features.

Cons: The first board I bought in 2008 was not stable...so NewEgg sent me a replacement which was annoying but rather painless overall.

9 Years and counting... 7/25/2016 2:16:07 PM

Pros: When Gigabyte says "Ultra Durable" they MEAN it.

Triple Channel RAM. I currently have 18gb of it. Most high end boards have caught up but this ruled for a long time.

CPU compatibility. I bought an I-7 920 and ran it for many years overclocked to 3.4 on air. I switched to a self contained water setup and managed to get 4GHz stable. Out of a 2.4GHz chip.
Now i'm looking at buying an I7-980x from a guy for $179. Mind you this was a 1k+ chip new. 6 Cores overclockable to 4.5GHz. Difficult to contend with that, especially at that price point.

Flexible. I've gone through 2 PSU's and 4 or 5 vid cards since the day i installed it. Never anything but rock solid. I can't remember ever having a BSOD with this board. I upgraded BIOS(es) over the years with no problems.

I will probably never buy another motherboard that does not say 'Gigabyte' on it.

This also came with wifi as something you could plug into your board. I never needed it so it's still in the box.

I did install a USB 3 card in it to modernize it a bit.

I have it in a CM Stacker with more fans than I can count, plus it's on a water loop now.

Cons: It's old. I'd like to put a Devils Canyon in it haha.

The SATA ports are poorly places making nice cable running tough. My case has no window so I don't really care.

Overall Review: In a word: Dependability. I don't know if they even make mobo's this good any more. This is a serious piece of kit.

Awesome motherboard 5/31/2013 10:14:39 PM

Pros: This board is rock solid. It's got all the features you'll probably ever need, including a plethora of USB ports, 8 SATA ports, and even the 12 phase power management system. The board stays cool thanks to its massive aluminium heat-sink on both the north bridge and the south bridge chipset. All the slots work and offer a wide range of customisability, like 3-way crossfire/SLI support and other pci slots for wifi cards for example. In terms of overclocking, it is an absolute dream. Since day one it's had an i7 920 @ 4GHz, and to this day it can still do 4GHz easily. It's also had 6GB of ram @ 1600MHz in triple channel mode running flawlessly. As far as the bios goes, it is easy to navigate through and has a wide range of settings to adjust. There is also good support over on the Gigabyte website. Overall though, a great board that will satisfy anyone.

Cons: Despite the pros, I did encounter a slight problem one day with this board. It wouldn't recognise one of my graphics cards, where it would work in another system. This was only a slight hiccup though as in a few days it worked again.

Overall Review: As stable as a rock and can overclock so well, despite its now 4th birthday.

It's been a long time... 3/28/2012 8:16:27 PM

Pros: I sit here and think about what a huge jump it was to get a 1366 system at the time (4 years ago). It was the most money I had spent on a system. But I loved the performance of the i7 that I had witnessed at work and knew I had to have one. the Xeon 5660's for example are still tops, same as the 980x still challenging ivybridge-e, This board has know been in 4 different cases just to keep the build demon at bay and while I have to use pcie 1x cards to get the needed usb 3 ports the fact that they are above the dual 6850's makes it so sweet. Love this board, so much that i've been shopping a 970 for it but they are still too much money so 920 at 3.8 is where it will have to stay. maybe three years when a 980 is $40 used this board will live on but I think I'll do a new build ivy bridge within 8 months, reports are they overclock great, but until then I'm happy with my P~8000 3dmark score a nothing right now really shows a comparative value.

Cons: the A version brought usb 3 and now that I have ssd maxiops in raid the lack of SATA3 but that was another generation so no fault assigned

Overall Review: only a dual proc BX board has been with me this long, so ther you go.

Garbage - No Quality Assurance 1/26/2011 12:45:12 PM

Pros: Lots of Bright Colors! However, worked for fewer than 6 weeks.

Cons: 1st Mobo began to hang randomly within 6 weeks. Since I build systems, had loads of spare EVERYTHING to swap out while isolating problem, and it came down to bad Mobo. Since out of 30-day Newegg return window, it was necessary to RMA to Gigabyte, who very promptly replaced it with an equally defective Mobo that continued to randomly hang regardless of Apps in use.

Overall Review: This product deserves (-5) EGGS. (NewEgg lacks any fault for being the unfortunate middleman). My first and LAST time to try Gigabyte Mobo's - absolutely NO QA process on these expensive ($300) paperweights. Replaced this with an Intel X58 board that is flawless! And Super Dependable As Always!

Good motherboard for building a hackintosh 4/25/2010 9:45:43 AM

Pros: I built myself a hackintosh with this motherboard. It's well-supported, has a plethora of USB ports, and plenty of SATA ports if you need them.

Cons: What's with the metal covers on the Ethernet ports? Seems a little strange.

Overall Review: This is the first computer I've built, and I love having a high-end motherboard at the heart of it.
