Does it come with a sounds card? I assume so, but I am new to building computers.

It has on-board sound. Depending on you Operating System you will have to load the drivers from the disc that comes with the Mo-Board or if you have Windows 8.1 I think it will do it for you... Ever since I switched a bunch of my PCs to Windows 8 I haven't had to use any of my installation discs (LOL)

The Specifications say it had 8 channel sound.
Most board with "on-board sound" I've had are pretty good... You'd have to spend over $50 to something that actually sounds better... (Most people can't really tell the difference most of the time anyway.) I just run this board mostly for BOINC projects and my entertainment server. I have it hooked up to a 19" wide monitor with built-it speakers.

I have about 5 other Gigabyte boards, one is for my HTPC and I just use the on-board sound with Blu-Ray direct to my power amp... it sounds pretty good.

This is a bit of an outdated motherboard. granted for the price it has grand quality.to answer your question it will be able to have one GPU installed to it at one time.

How is this motherboard when it comes to gaming?

A decent budget MOBO. Only two DIMM Slots and no extra PCI-E for Crossfire though.

I ended up using this in my Son's new machine and he's happy with it. Used 8GB of RAM, a AMD 6350, and a Sapphire 7850. Runs COD Ghosts just fine.

I opted for the Gigabyte 970A-D3P for my machine instead. It wasn't that much more money and had 4 DIMM slots for DDR 1866 (32GB) and is Crossfire capable.

It really depends on your budget and how much headroom for upgrading you want.

Question 4

Can this mobo support an i3-7300?  I've looked on the Intel website and checked and it says it's a 7th generation processor. But I still have my doubts.

This mobo is for AMD only specificaly the FX,  athlon ii and phenonm II class it should also be noted that this motherboard doesn't support cpus that have a higher TDP than 95 watts, I have this motherboard and I think its a very nice budget board thats compatible with amd only

I don't think it is since its not AM3+ compatible but if you need more help i would suggest going to GIGABYTE website and check for yourself. Head to support then CPU compatibility list.

Question 6

So I bought this after a lot of research and believed everything to be compatible, and my friend told me that the AMD FX-8320 I bought would not work on this mobo because of the wattage difference... Is it true they aren't compatible? If so I'm out $50.

Your friend is correct. The 8320 draws more power than this mobo can handle. Besides, you don't want to put a high performing CPU in a low performing mobo. Match up the specs and you will see this. If you're looking for a Gigabyte board, I'd use nothing less than a GA-990FXA-(anything). That family of boards balances price vs performance much better for this chip. If you can still return this board, DO IT and get one of those.  My gaming machine is a 990FXA-UD3 with an 8320 and 16GB DDR3 1600 memory. It performs great running 24/7 with no problems.

I bought one of these GA-78LMT-S2 boards to build a small storage server for my business.  I put in a $50 CPU to match it.  Was a great board for the one hour it ran. Didn't even finish getting Windows Server installed.  I'm still waiting for Gigabyte to approve my RMA one week after applying.

Do yourself a favor. Spend a little more money and get a real motherboard. You will not regret it.

Question 7

I updated the bios and now my (windows 8) pc crashes after 30 seconds of being in windows. I tried down grading my bios but it didn't fix anything. I also tried reinstalling windows and it failed (i tried with both windows 8 and windows 7) How do I fix this?

P.S. I have an amd fx 8350, 8gb or ram, sandisk 32 gb ssd, fxf radion 7770, and a 500 gb hard drive.

It could be a number of things, but I don't think that it is the bios. It must have passed power on self test to start Windows. Did it run before you flashed the bios? I need a starting point. Remove the video card and use the on board video. Pop the battery out to reset the cmos memory. Remove one stick of ram and see if it runs. You could be loading down the power supply, you didn't say what it was. It should be at least 500 watts with two 12volt rails for that video card. The ssd may be too small. I would use anything less then 60gb. You could also see if it will run in safe mode Hit F8 during boot up. If it runs without crashing, you you could have a driver or hardware conflict. Good luck. I have used mine yet. It is a spare for home theater PC.

No, Intel processors would not work with this motherboard. Only processors with the matching motherboard sockets will work.

This is a strange board. It doesn't want to run the 1600 ram above 1333. My FX4130 cpu defaulted to 2.8 ghz. It took some time to figure out how to get it to 4.0 ghz. It is a great little board for the price that I paid. The system runs good with 7.4 for cpu and ram with Windows 7 experience. The slow clock on the ram doesn't matter much in the real world.
