60 day FOLLOW UP 12/21/2013 7:34:25 PM

Pros: Often seen as the pinnacle of its age, and still highly sough after for its listed "abilities and performance".

Cons: Where to begin... SR-2 failure due to multiple faulty NEX1500 PSU's. Although eVGA's "Advanced, Saturday delivery" RMA service was purchased, and we had been trying to get the SR-2 RMA'd for more than a week, eVGA policy prohibits more than one open RMA at a time so now we have a useless mainboard until after the new year (since shipments are suspended until Jan. 2nd, 2014).

Overall Review: While eVGA may once have been the leader in both product reliability and service response, it is sad to say that this is no longer the case. Their own forums are ripe with failure after failure, and eVGA is doing nothing more than reading from play-books for support and dragging their heels on service turn around.

Great Board 10/24/2013 10:06:31 PM

Pros: From top to bottom an all around fun enthusiast board. Capable of so many setups for home or business. Easily to overclock within the bios and various software raid setups. The Marvel chip set, 7 X-16 expansion slots and the Dual Proc capability make this board top tier.

Cons: Depending on who''s asking may not be a con but does not have a 20 pin IO for USB 3.0. Not a big deal to me since i do not connect 3.0 external devices. However it does come with a USB 3.0 expansion card. Depending on the memory you buy you must pay attention to the voltage requirements. I ended up having to increase the voltage within the bios setup to run my F3 Rip-jaws. Though this is minor but if one did not troubleshoot well then you might think that your board was DOA and not capable of installing you OS for example.

Overall Review: I have owned my board for 6 months now and have OC'd my procs since installation. Using the Corsair 80i water cooling system my temps run @ 35 C under load. Other than the memory issue using proper voltage I have not had any issues with with this board. It is an extremely large board and I use the Xigmatek Elysium full tower to insure proper support. I do recommend the purchase of this board though its a little too much for a first time builder if your only interest is web browsing or solitaire. Final though is really having fun configuring the many ranges of setups it has to offer for my network. Top Notch EVGA, Top Notch...

Beatly 10/3/2013 2:21:53 PM

Pros: Love this board, I bought two of these to start building a 3D render farm for my graphics company. It is amazing! It chews through renders insanely quick. Plus I was able to overclock my Xeon processors slightly which was another great feature

Cons: So like I mentioned in the Pros section that I bought two of these, one of them arrived DOA. After going back and forth with EVGA and Newegg and trying multiple boards was unable to get a working machine so finally just returned it and built a single CPU render machine.

Powerfull Board 5/10/2013 7:32:41 AM

Pros: This is a very powerfull piece of hardware. Have two X5680's running @ 4.4ghz with idle temps <40c.

Has USB 3.0

Getting a CPU Cinebench score of 22.08!!!

EVGA just released a new BIOS for this board this last month.

Cons: Took a little bit of playing with before it was stable. This board is not a standard single socket 1366 board so you should expect a little bit of troubleshooting and time before hand.
Very picky with memory. Check in the EVGA forums to find out what everyone else is running.

Takes at least 20 seconds before this board posts.

Not many applications use all 24 cores

Not stable with >200 bclk

Overall Review: Even though this board is 3 years old it is still fantastic. It scores over 22 points on Cinebench with 2 of my x5680's OC'd to 4.4ghz. Buying this setup was kind of expensive but worth it.

Nightmare :/ 5/2/2013 9:18:06 PM

Pros: Looks cool.

Cons: The most troublesome motherboard I have ever worked with (I have worked with A LOT)! I have never had such a problem building a computer. It's been one problem after another and the raid on the Sata III (red) ports is a joke. Running 2 extremely fast SSDs in raid 0 but I might as well use one... or I might as well use 2 HDD raid 0 to get the same speeds! The PCI-E ports are messed up, board is glitchy and slow in every way possible -_- If you place a (PCI-E) card above the graphics card, the computer won't start (or won't display image on monitor). If you have full 48GB of ram (all ports filled with proper ram), the computer is EXTREMELY SLOW (had to reduce to 24GB). The ram STILL seems slow (checked and all ram is 100% working). Processors slower than normal (checked and 100% working), Problems booting from USB (also screws up graphics card/display and EVERYTHING ELSE). Problem with SLI (tried every driver there is and checked for faulty cards [there isn't], still has problems). Computer will turn on for about 3 seconds, then shut off for about another 3 seconds, and then turn back on and start. I had heard of this happening to others before. Tried all possible fixes (including new PSU) and still has the problem.

Seriously I think I will run out of characters on this note before naming everything. I've been at this for weeks now... as soon as one problem is "fixed," another arises! I know how fast this system SHOULD run because of my previous builds, same parts, all that changed was THIS motherboard. About to go back to ancient motherboard for faster EVERYTHING.

Overall Review: If I find out that (somehow, after many, MANY successful builds with 0 failures or glitches) this is all my fault and I did something incorrectly, then I will revise my rating... otherwise, this is by far, one of the worst motherboards I have ever dealt with :/ I would still like to use this... if I can ever get things working properly -_-

Problematic Motherboard 4/16/2013 7:42:03 AM

Pros: This motherboard is a very quick board, able to boot the Win 7 x64 OS within 30 seconds from an SSD. It has connections for most case peripherals and includes an abundance of cables for connections to various devices. The layout is spacious with power connectors positioned in accessible locations. It has 7 PCIe slots and can accomodate 4x16 SLI which is amazing.

Cons: For all of the connections, it lacks an internal 20-pin USB 3.0 header so you'll need to use a PCIe card. The motherboard is absolutely massive (HPTX size) so only a handful of cases will work with it. This also makes it a problem to cleanly run cables from devices to the motherboard given the sheer size of the needed case. The ones provided did not work for most of my devices. Compared to a SuperMicro MBD-X8DA3-O MB, this board offers less PCI/PCIe compatibility and has no PCI ports.

Overall Review: It wouldn't initially install windows until I pulled all of my PCIe cards (additional Sata and USB 3.0 cards). After windows was installed, despite numerous reconfiguration attempts, putting the PCIe cards back in either caused hangs during operation or blue screens with various random problems. Having built more computers than I can remember, this MB is one of the toughest to get configured properly. After trying multiple USB 3.0 cards, the best I can get is a bootable system which blue screens at shutdown. It won't work with unpowered USB PCIe cards either (I'm not using any high load USB devices). Some USB 3.0 cards, such as the Vantec variety, aren't even recognized. All of these cards work fine in the SuperMicro MB however in both powered and unpowered configurations. The only saving grace this MB offers me is a faster boot, better memory performance, and a few more internal SATA ports than the SuperMicro offers. Otherwise, I'd go back to the SuperMicro MB which is more compatible.

Pros: The best motherboard ever.. It does everything that's
required to do. A lifetime warranty included..

Cons: Discontinued?? Not too likely that will ever happen..
Newegg,, sharpen your pencils and get the lead out.. Stock
up and put this board back on the shelves instead of selling
some cheap toy Mobos with chipsets that won't last forever
which is just another gimmick to make an extra buck...

THIS BOARD IS AMEZING 8/9/2012 7:53:49 AM

Pros: INCREDIBLY fast... installed windows 7 ultimate less then 10 min. bots up in 3 sec. I put 2 x 6 core xeons on this board and use it for 3d modelling and rendering it is unbelievable. my old machine has a 4 core xeon and the rendering a scene takes 30 min . it takes less than 5 min. with this board. 24 threads 24 gb ram record rendering time...

Cons: wish there was an on board usb3
