I was wondering if this graphics card would be compatible with a Dell xps 8700? I'm getting that computer and an wanting to upgrade the graphics card. If you could help me as soon as you can that would be great. Thank you.

I don't have exact experience with this AMD V-cards and dell XPS.
Although I have owned a DELL XPS in the past it really depends on the need, use, and application of the user.
Most Dells use Intel CPU and compatible parts. I am not familiar with DELL and AMD compatibility. 
AMD SITE also has compatibility data.

It depends on the Processor (CPU). 
If it is a AMD processor then this card should work.
Other considerations are the Mobo and the power source.

You will need at least 400W PSU & Mobo with PCI 2.0 slot.

I have been building computers for many years and I built this last one about 6 months ago. 
I want to go all AMD to take advantage of  V-card graphics  and integrated graphics. 
Most I7, I5 and I3 have this but AMD does it with quality and half the cost. Plus the software drivers and interface are user friendly and over-clocking friendly. 
If you have a AMD processor and want to OC then this card may be for you.

Quite stable on my system but there have been a few blue screen crashes not related to the V-card.
and the price after rebate was $109.

I run three monitors with the capacity of being able to run six using the integrated graphics and the V-card.

Question 2

Does anyone know if this video card will fit on a Gigabyte GAH81M-H motherboard?  (This is a Micro ATX board)

I have never installed a dual slot video card but by looking at my motherboard it looks likes the video card's heat sink will have to clear a few capacitors which are right next to the PCI x16 slot.

It will fit, only just barely, The problem will be the overheating, there's not alot of dissipation for you so your board seems like it'll overheat.

Question 3

Allright, this may or may not be a dumb question, but I am planning to go crossfire but I'm pretty sure the XFX Radeon 7850 I bought will no longer be restocked. That being said, could I crossfire this particular card with the other one as long as they're still both Radeon HD 7850 2GB with the PCI-E 2.1 slots and CrossFireX compatible?

Good afternoon Levi,

Yes. AMD/ATI 7000 series cards are compatible between different manufacturers. So as long as they are both Radeon 7850's, you should be fine. Its preferred that you get a matching pair, however, since differences in firmware and clock speeds might cause stuttering and other artifacts.

I'd also check if both cards have 2GB. I believe Crossfire will still work with mismatched memory sizes, but both cards will then run with the lesser of the two memory sizes. You may want to double check this fact against google or other resources.

Alright this is a pretty dumb question, but I can't seem to find the answer myself. Does this actually have two fans or just one fan? It comes up as one fan in most places I've looked. That said, how is the cooling on this card?

Yes the motherboard you listed is compatible (1 PCI Express gen2 x16 slot is available)  but you will not be able to run in Hybrid Crossfire and you will cover up one of your PCI-X x1 slots.

Question 8

Does anyone know if this card is compatible with the ECS A970M-A Deluxe mobo?  It's not listed on the ECS website, but I would be surprised if it wasn't supported.

Without reading those comments about why or what cards it does not play nice with, im just shooting in the dark here: My guess would be that certain motherboards might have a preference for which PCIE slot a single videocard goes into. I would assume that most finicky boards might prefer the top slot to be occupied first, in a way similar to how some motherboards prefer you populate DIMMs 1 and 3 with ram first, before slots 2 and 4.

If the complaints were about dual cards being configured in a crossfire setting, then yes crossfire does add additional layers of complexity with additional heat/power strain and creates further potential failure points in the system for something to go wrong. Too much to even try to speculate on without looking at the source or knowing what they were using for hardware. Good luck in your endeavor though! Be sure to peek at your motherboard manual just in case it recommends one slot over the other.

I have an acer ipisb-vr motherboard with intel h67 chipset. It's an Gateway FX 6860-ur21p desktop pc. Came stock with the  Radeon HD 7770 but died on me after a year. I bought the EVGA GTX 760 video card and the pc wouldn't boot up thought my power supply wasn't strong enough so I got a 650w Psu and still doesn't boot up.

So my question is this card compatible with my pc specs? I update my bios to the newest from gateway site and still nothing.

When you had the GTX 760 did you plug in both the PCIE 6 pin and the PCIE 8 pin power connectors to the card? Thats about the only reason that I can think of why your PC would refuse to 'boot.'

We should clarify what you mean by booting: If your PC gets past the initial hardware config screen (the "post" screens) then chances are theres nothing wrong with your hardware setup. If it starts to load windows and then fails with a blue screen or says that it cannot locate an operating system, then thats a driver or software problem. Something you may be able to fix by booting into safe mode (Typically done by pressing your F8 key about once per second after you power the machine on until you get a menu.)

It is possible that the card you purchased could have been a dead card, that does happen on rare occasion. This card here appears to only have 1x 6 pin PCIE connector. So as long as you plug some power into it you should be good to go. A 650w PSU should easily handle a 7850. If you were using a power-adaptor to change 1 or 2 four-pin molex connectors into a 6/8 pin pcie connector, its possible that one of those wasnt connected properly/had a broken wire, and that would have been equivalent to not plugging it in.

I have a DVI monitor and run a cable to my HDTV  HDMI input. Can I run both displays at the same time ? Thanks.

yep. it haves both DVI and HDMI outputs, you just tell your main OS to replicate "clone" or extrend desktop to use them at the same time.
AMD haves a Eyefinity tool utility also.
