Does it come with its own cooling paste?

No, it does not. I have not seen an AMD box processor that does. You will need to purchase suitable thermal compound to use when installing this item. I use the tub of Cooler Master product and refill a syringe dispenser as needed. I purchased this processor to test several FM2 mother boards I worked on for functionality, before spending any money on higher end APU's. I do this a lot, so I use a lot of thermal paste. For myself, if I was building a single PC for personal use with a higher clocked and/or APU I might go with a small syringe of a little more refined product. But for this unit, the bulk Cooler Master product seems to work great. I use it on lap top repairs and multiple desk top builds.

Question 2

This processor requires Discrete GPU, will i be able to use my integrated graphics for basic stuff(not gaming) or will i definitely need a graphics card no matter what?

Sorry, I cannot answer you question.  I cannot answer it because I too have the same question plus several others.  I have provided my issues below and hopefully, combined with your input,  ASUS/Newegg can pursue this further and help us both.

Issues:

1.  This was also a concern of mine when purchasing this board/cpu combo. I was unable to find, either from from ASUS or Newegg site, what the ramifications of this combination were. I am experienced but I'm not at the pro builder level.  This info should be more readily available.

2.  The board states it does not have on-board graphics capability and yet it has a full set (VGA, DVI and HDMI) video ports.  This seems like a conflict to me.  What does this mean?

3. Does this mean I need a CPU that is explicitly rated as 'Requires discrete GPU' (like the Athlon X2 370K) or can I have a CPU that also has GPU support? Will this have posting ramifications?  Will the onboard video ports configure via BIOS and provide video during intial boot without a graphics card installed?

4. ASUS should provide a POSTing legend describing 'beeps' to causes. This is the only interface the standalone board has to the builder and yet I have to Google to find what they might be and start guessing from there.  They provide very detailed instructions about the boards physical characteristics and assembly (thumbs up!) but when it comes to startup, nada.

These four issues can all be resolved by providing some simple already known information provided either on-line or in the manual.  Providing it would be very lost cost and I think diminish the number of RMA's.

No. The motherboard you gave is a socket AM2 and this CPU is a socket FM2.

Is it a good Processor for gaming?

For modern triple-A games like Battlefield 4 and Crysis, I would recommend a quad- or eight-core processor, as they can optimize those cores to make the game run better. But if you are playing less hardware-taxing games like Skyrim, any Source engine game (Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead), or any indie game, then this processor will do a great job.

*Note that this processor does not have integrated graphics and you will need to buy a seperate graphics card.

Is this compatible with a dell inspiron 531?

The only way to be 100% sure this CPU would be compatible with your Dell system would be to enter your service code into Dell's website (they make many different models with the same names and numbers) and check the "System configuration" section to get your motherboard details. If your motherboard has a "FM2" socket AND you have a dedicated graphics card (not an internal one on the motherboard because this CPU doesn't have any video) then you shouldn't have too much trouble upgrading this although I would also want to check Dell's forums to be sure the BIOS will accept and configure the new CPU correctly as they typically don't have the flexibility as a home built system would have. I am  thinking of purchasing this processor  but am wondering if it  is compatibilite with with my asrock fm2a88x+ killer fatality MB?

The manufacturer specifications for you MB, ( Fatal1ty FM2A88X+ Killer) state FM2, FM2+ processor, 100W max. Therefore, I see no reason why the CPU, (AD370KOKHLBOX), would not be compatible and function just fine.

Will I be able to unlock 4 cores for this processor like the other Athlons?

No, you can only do that on old AM3 processors that are based on Phenom. These are based on the same CPU core as the FX processors, and any locked down cores are permanently disabled, just like on the FX.

This is a great motherboard and is definitely combatable with the AMD FM2 processor. However, the video resolution of 4096x2160 can only be achieved when using an FM2+ APU, the maximum video resolution supported using the FM2 processor only, is 1920x1200. REMEMBER, the AMD FM2+ APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) also contains the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) which allows you to use the on board video ports. If you use a standard AMD FM2 processor that is not an APU, (does not contain the GPU), you may need to install a separate video card for your video needs. If you are purchasing an FM2 processor (not the +), make sure it states Desktop APU. Hope this helps.

i am runing a single core app, and I need that core to be fast. are each of the cores runing at 4.0? and how far can I overclock tha core to have more fps?. Gpu or ram wont help, my bottleneck is the cpu speed.

If your single core running app is the problem then you might want to look at the OS, or the software itself to assign it more cores.  So that your not bottle necked to the single core.  If the program is that old that it won't allow you to set an affinity then I would recommend replacing it.  If you configure your bios the highest I got out of this proceossor is 4.4GHz being stable with stock cooling. If you want to go higher and be stable, I would recommend changing the cpu fan to something better then the stock cooling.

Question 10

What fan and heatsink does this processor come with? Also, does it have Radeon Graphics?

AMD X2's do not have graphics. You will need a CPU that contains an APU like the "A' Series, or your will have to buy a graphics adapter separately. The fan is adequate.
