Does the CPU cooler that's bundled with this chip have LED as the Ryzen 7 SPIRE coolers?

No, only the 1700 and up have the LED coolers.

Question 2

will this chip fit in an am 3 socket ?

Accepted Answer

No, it will not.  This is an AM4 socket chip and is a new design.  You will have to check the motherboards section to get a new board, new DDR4 memory, and this chip.  I would recommend that you go to the motherboard and check the combos.  There's usually a good $20-$30 discount on buying on all 3.  I have bought 2 combo deals with Asus MB, this processor and G.Skill Ripjaws memory.  It works with Windows 10, FreeBSD 11 and CentOs 7.

Question 3

Just bought this processor (Ryzen 1500x) last week. So far it's been amazing and a fantastic upgrade from the A10-5700. I've been monitoring the temps with HW monitor. My CPU is idling around 43 degrees C and the max reaches 65 sometimes 70 degrees C when gaming (GTA V, Rome 2, The Long Dark). These are stock clocks. Is this high? Usually when browsing as right now it's about 48 degrees C browsing with a few tabs open in chrome. It is in an enclosed desk with the door open and holes in the back for ventilation, although  realize this is not optimal. Just wondering if this is an ok setup for the long run? I don't have the office space that I used to, so setting it outside the desk is out of the question. Thank you for any responses.

Those are safe temps. My Ryzen 5 1500x runs a little cooler than that, but I have better ventilation than what you described. I don't see why you should have any issues running at those temps, should be stable for years to come. I run mine at 3.9Ghz OC with a slight over volt and I've yet to break 80 degrees, which is fantastic in my opinion.

One thing you should take a look at is the stock fan curve. I adjusted mine to reach max speed at a lower temp and the stock cooler is handling it like a champ.  If you have anymore concerns or questions, please feel free to ask.

FYI, I used Arctic MX4 thermal paste for my CPU heatsink. Even under synthetic loads, I don't break 74 degrees and my normal temp for daily, light work loads is around 60-62, sometimes high 50s depending on ambient (which is almost always between 72-78 F in my room. But as I mentioned above, this can be controlled by adjusting your fan curve in the bios, just be realistic with your expectations.

Question 4

Not a gamer: can this CPU be run on air cooling out of the box, is there a Ryzen yet with integrated graphics?  I am looking to replace a 1 GHZ dual core system to do some Linux Video editing.

Not a gamer either but the CPU works great with the Wraith Heatsink.  Integrated graphics on the mobo won't work with this CPU.  AMD will produce a Ryzen chip with on-board computer graphics capability but not yet.  None of the Ryzen 7, 5, or 3 models will work with on-board computer graphics.  You'll have to get a graphics card with any of these chips.

I guess this is a naive question:  
Will this run Windows 7 32-bit?

Yes, i'm pretty sure all 64 bit processors can run 32 bit operating systems. Of course, as you probably already know, your ram will be limited to 4gb

Did somebody bought one of these to replace a Core i7 3770? Is it a worth replacement overall?

I did not replace any Intel CPU,  but for me it is working really good.  If you use it for gaming,  stay with Intel,  otherwise it is worth the change.

Question 7

What would happen if I used a motherboard with a 4 pin cpu power, would i just not be able to overclock? or would i lose performance?

If the motherboard itself has an 8 pin female connector for the CPU - you could use a single 4 pin and the CPU would not lose any base performance. You would likely still be able to overclock - but you would also likely have a lower limit when upping your voltage. Hope that helps!

Does it have cooling problems again?

"Again" meaning what?  All Ryzen heatsinks are known to keep up with the stock clock speeds, but some motherboards are known report the wrong temperature.   BIOS updates ought to fix that though.

Does it come with thermal paste?

I did come with pre-applied thermal paste. I screwed up my first attempt at mounting the heatsink, so I removed it and added my own. Although I can't personally attest to this, many others have had no issues with the factory paste not performing well enough.

how much space does the cooler take up and why isn't this info included in the specs?

I’m not really sure as to exactly what you mean by space taken up but here’s a video on the same cooler (except that the one in the video has rgb leds because it came with a higher end chip) search for “AMD Wraith Spire cooler Bitwit” on YouTube.
