Can I transfer my existing data to this SSD?

Yes. It takes files and diredctories from any other disk drive, SSD or spinny. You can use a disk copying utility like Microsoft diskcopy or Linux dd, that will copy one disk to another in a way that may or may not work for you. You can also just format it and drag-drop files into it. If you want to backup your system with a utility that compresses and indexes it, set your output directory to one on that drive. Good luck!

Can this be used with a usb platform?

Yes, a USB dongle that will interface an M.2 NVME stick should work. It's not a "SATA" stick if it has two notches on the gold finger end. Some USB gizmos go faster than others, and no, not all of them are guarranteed to work, especially the two dolla cheepies... I suspect you'll get what you pay for on this one, so if it costs more but goes faster... check your USB speed and think about it.

Is this single sided chipset? As my thin laptop only supports that type.

I think it has chips on both sides. It is about 2mm ~ 2.5mm thick.
