Can I use this in my desktop, if I buy a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor?

Of course! the sata connection is the same as a 3.5" and the power connection is as well. Some peopel are against it but i don’t buy the adapters, I just mount two of the screws to the 3.5" slot and it only has support from one side... these drives weigh pretty much nothing and I have never had one fail.

May these SSD's be used on Macs?  What has to be re-configured, if anything?

Yes, I've used mine on my MBP 2011, it worked great and it's working good so far. There's nothing to be reconfigured if you're gonna use this drive on a Mac, the replacement/upgrade procedure it's the same on both Mac and pc.

I use this SSD as my primary drive for my mobile recording studio. It is fast and reliable. Excellent Price point as well.  Should work just fine for gaming.

macbook pro early 2011.  compatible?

I have a 2012 MacBook that I regularly use to read this SSD via a USB 3 adapter. (I use the drive in an external video recorder).  No problems recognizing it.

I know that's not a 1 to 1 equivalence in terms of year/model or installing it but I suspect you won't have any trouble. They are very solid and reliable drives with basic SATA connectors.

Only question might be whether you'd get the full use of the 6 Gb/s for that year's model.

You can also consult the forums on MacRumors or Creative Cow if no one here responds with direct experience.

I don't recall any mounting hardware in the box - just a little plastic stick-on that makes the drive the 'standard' thickness.  These can be used so many ways, it kind of makes sense there's no mounting hardware included.

Yes. The laptop you mention is a very recent one and most SSDs, if not all (including the Sandisk) will work fine with it.

Does this have a known issue with imaging Windows7/64bit from a past drive onto this drive? Also what mobo BIOS issues does it have such as one reported in the reviews (AMI APTIO firmware)?

None - I've had Windows 7/64bit imaged from a past drive onto this drive since June 2014.

My build along with this drive is a Fata1ity H87 mobo. Never had any issues as reported, even after having updated its BIOS.

Not if the drive you are replacing is also a 2.5" drive, which is what most laptops have installed.
