This hard drive uses the standard SATA connector cable.  It is not an IDE drive which uses the wide cable, but is a SATA drive and uses a SATA cable which is about the width of most power connectors on the old IDE drives.  I hope this helps.

will this hardrive work in a dell Celeron pc?

I had a great deal of trouble getting it to work in my Inspiron, apparently the geniuses at Dell changed the OS to not allow a disk larger than the original 160 gb drive. Finally had to use a win7 disk from another computer, it did allow me to use my original SN though

Btw, I don't like the SSD, I think I am having a speed conflict between disk and memory grrrrr. Think I will just go back to spindle !!!!!!

Yes,should work fine.better for an older motherboard  I think because it's sata 3.0 . It's  for always recording video so you would expect it to be very reliable

Hi,
My i3-530 Intel gave me the blue screen of death. I tried my hard drive on another PC, nothing. My old HDD was 1TB. Was wondering if this HDD drive might solve my dilemma?.  I'm a newbie. Everything else works.

As in when you tried to use the old HDD on another PC is worked? Or it didn't show at all?

You need to look up the error code the BSOD is giving you. That will tell you if it's even a hardware error. It's very possible your old HDD is fine, and there is simply a software issue with you Windows installation. A good test would be to reinstall Windows. If that works, also run checkdisk to make sure it's ok.

Does this work well with an external USB 3.0 caddy for backup purposes? I heard WD drives can be temperamental when connecting this way with the need to set jumpers and set the drive to slave or something?? Wanted to use it to backup my Mac and I'm on the fence about buying an external caddy if its not going to work. Thanks a million

i have an emachince made in 2008 i know this one will work but dose anyone know if it matters if buy a sata 6.0gb would matter or would i have to stay with 3.0 its a 32bit version of emachine el1210-09?

Could go either way.  The newer drives can have better internal performance so while you can't transfer the data to or from the drive any faster than 3gbps other aspects could improve a little bit.

It might also be cheaper to get a SATA3 drive and it's backwards compatible.  This will also help if you ever upgrade to a board that does support SATA3 in the future.
