I purchased this for my laptop, and for that application it works very well... the specifications for this drive do match those for the PS3... I would do a bit more research on the PS3 specs' before I personally would try using it on my PS3 - better safe than sorry....

Question 2

I have a Lenovo U410 Ideapad "Ultrabook." The HDD model number is the same as the HDD shown here EXCEPT there is a dash at the end followed by an additional code of "24HXZT3".  Can I just buy the HDD and not worry about this added gibberish code at the end?  My hard drive is dying a slow death and I need to replace it.  Thanks.

Your U410 looks like it ships with a 750GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and a 24GB Solid State Drive (SSD). I'm not sure if your current hard disk is hybrid (having both HDD and SSD built into the same 2.5" drive) or if it has a separate SSD. Regardless, as long as the original drive and replacement drive are 2.5" Hard Drives, and they are SATA, I don't foresee you having any compatibility issues.

Can I use this to replace a WD 500GB for an ASUS computer?

I had to replace the hard drive on my ASUS U56E laptop - I bought the WD7500 - Western Digital has a good reputation for longevity and was simple to replace and configure with my restore disks....

I had a HP Pavilion G7 series a few years back and I decided to use it's old hard drive ( which is this one) on my new desktop that I'm going to build in the next few weeks. Is it possible to use this laptop's hard drive for a desktop?

Yes. I have used them for years in my desktops. I use a swopable adapter  .
In a rom drive for primary use second hd for stuff. Same OS, Ubuntu,  testing  new Windows  beta. IT WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM.

Need replacement to DELL Inspiron N5040 (640 Gb/5400 WD BPVT) HD.
Will this 75000 BPVT work?
 Many BAD reviews on this make me nervous?

I purchased this HD to put in my 3 year old HP which had an 80 GB HD. It is being used daily for work for the past two years and I have put 96.6 GB of old movies and radio show on the drive.  I have had no issues with the drive. It seems to be working great!
