Question 1

Hard to tell from the picture, but is the Velociraptor's size different from a normal 3.5" drive (with that heatsink and all). Could I fit two of them in a Mac G5's two hard drive bays?

you can remove screws ,take it out of heat Zink/enclosure and install in laptop....
I would Not recommend That...
that will void warranty and most likely kill hard drive in a very short time, as heat is it's enemy.....and it WILL get hot in a laptop

theres a reason for it being installed in a heat zink tray/enclosure...

Question 2

i have an older model of this drive {WDC WD1500HLFS-01G6U0}
set up as a mirror in my server.  I see no reason why both versions of this hard drive should not be compatible..AM I CORRECT?

It really depends on the settings of the controller you have.  Some RAID 1 controllers will allow different drives but I believe you will greatly reduce the risk of errors and failures if you use the exact same drive as your mirror.  If you find a drive with the same geometry, it will probably do the trick, however, in an application performance senseitive environment (perhaps SQL Server) it would benefit you to use the same model drive.  I found this out myself when attempting to use RAID 1 in an Intel  server (also purchased from NewEgg) with a WD1500HLHX as the primary drive and a WED1500HLFS (SATA2) and had some write through cache issues with the controller.   It worked as long as I switched the slower drive to the primary drive and the faster drive the mirror drive but then I lost the performance.  So I purchased more of the same drive and everything works now.   Either way, if you put the faster drive as the mirror drive, it should work okay.

Is this drive compatible with Asus CM5570 Vista 64 bit?

I would say 'yes' - BUT, these raptors run HOT and suggest adding a fan directly for cooling of any of the 10,000 rpm drives.

Question 4

I recently purchased two of these drives from Newegg. I am using these drives in a RAID 1 configuration on a INTEL D915GAV motherboard under XP Professional. What RAID Controller card do you have that I can use with these drives and the D915GAV MB under XP Pro? I need a new RAID controller as the one I an using is bad.

You Really need to update To 7 Pro or 8 Pro 64 Bit and also these drive's are no designed to be run in raid
