It depends on the system embedded BIOS Toshiba has built into it. My drive was rejected as I got the BSOD stating that Windows cannot load and to protect this computer, Windows cannot install. I called Toshiba to find a solution and was offered a option of $139.99 for them to  ( recommended ) install my OS , I was shocked , told them no thanks. After visiting numerous forums I found the solution, I hooked up an ext. HDD in an enclosure. Installed Windows via the USB input. It took the program. Toshiba is notorious for embedding little HDD instructions to deny new hardware changes as they want you to use them for a charge to make system changes such as this. My advice is to buy it, great drive ( when you can get it to play nice )  and for this price and promo you wont find a better price. If you need any further help drop a line, Hope this helps. Will this hard drive fit a Toshiba Satellite L675 laptop?

Probably. Most 2.5" laptop hard drives are sold as 9.5mm max height, which is the thickness of this drive. There are a few handful of laptops that were designed to be slim and require thinner drives. Judging by the photos of the model you provided on Google, I would give you an 85% confidence vote that this will fit. If you can provide the model of the current hard drive installed, I can give you a more confident answer.

You need to check your current hard drive model and do a search for a good replacement. Go to START > COMPUTER>(Right Click) PROPERTIES >HARDWARE TAB >DEVICE MANAGER >(Click the "+" sign beside DISK DRIVES. This is the actual drive in your machine. When you purchase an internal hard drive such as this there will never be software on it. Some external drives come with software to make transferring files easier. But thats not the case with internals.

I always recommend that if you plan to begin "hacking" your hardware, that you examine CAREFULLY the original hardware that you have.  The drive you are considering was designed to go in a standard laptop. You are considering putting a drive in a gaming console. The two may not use the same  form factor (physical dimentions) and may not use the same electrical connections (different connectors and cables).  If ANY if these do not match then what you are considering will fail.  Check and compare the spec. on the drive that you have as regards the size and connections pin-outs with the PUBLISHED dimentions and pin configuraation of the Toshiba drive.  If the only differences between the two drives is the number of GB (data size) with the new drive being somewhat higher capacity and somewhat faster, then the project should be successful.  If you are a novice "hardware hacker" find someone who has attempted this hack before. If you are hardware savy, compare the pinouts EXACTLY before powering anything up.  From all of this, you should understand that without having the spec sheet info at hand for BOTH drives, the ONLY answer possible is MAYBE. I have destroyed equipment early in my electronics carreer by trying things like this without documentation available. Proceed with caution!!  Oh yes, did I mention, PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!

Did anyone run into the trouble by installing this HD in a Toshiba L305 -S5903 Satellite Laptop? , I'm getting the dreaded BSOD. I got a message to protect your computer your are unable to install this software/hardware change? I called Toshiba but they want $139.99 to asit me in installing the drive and loading a new operating system. It's a little nasty program in the boards BIOS that prevents you from making any upgrades w/o Toshibas help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you point to where you found the information about the BIOS limitation regarding replacing hardware? I've done a web search and haven't been able to find any reference to this, and I have never come across it in all my years of working on PC's.

Have you logged into the BIOS on your Satellite and looked through the settings to see if you can turn off any "security" switches that may be causing your problem?

yes its perfectly compatible. Windows 10 does however seem to have problems on some hp's but if you download the 10 on disk then it's a breeze!

The drive I'm replacing has a Drive Rev #AAT AA10/AX003M.  The Drive Rev for the new (replacement) drive is AZA AA00/AX001U.  Is this the correct replacement drive?  Thanks for your help.

Check manufacturer's website for replacement, or upgrade parts. But in general, as long as they are the same interface any laptop drive will work.  I used this drive as an external in an enclosure.. But I have replaced many laptop drives so it should be fine.
